Summary: The Education Collab moves to open membership.
Article:
During the last quarter of 2016, a discussion emerged around the criteria for membership in the Education Collab. This discussion was carried out on-wiki, by e-mail and during the Collab online meetings. It was initiated as part of a necessary evolution, responding to the aspiration of more people to participate in the Collab, and making membership criteria more explicit. The conclusion of this discussion was to move to an “open membership” criteria.
The Education Collab is a group of volunteers that have a strong background in Wikipedia Education Programs: activities where students participate in creating content for Wikipedia or any sister project. The Collab focuses on helping education-related initiatives by providing assistance to other Education Program Leaders by working towards three established goals: improving usage of the dashboard, improving the visibility of the program, and mentoring other program leaders.
The collab is hopeful that the new criteria will be useful to anyone who is considering joining the team. If you have questions or comments, feel free to add them to the discussion on-wiki!
