Summary: The Open Education Global Conference 2020 took place on 16-20 November, 2020. Among the topics reported from around the world, there were also two related to education and Wikipedia.


The theme for the 2020 conference was Connecting the Global Open Education Community and the event was hosted virtually by the Taipei Medical University (TMU). Two of the speakers were from our community:

  • Wikip(m)edia Tools in Schools as the Keys to Collaborative, Innovative Learning and Teaching ― lightning talk by Klara Sielicka-Baryłka (Wikimedia Poland), within the topic "Connecting Open Education to Primary and Secondary (K-12) Education" and connected to UNESCO Area of Focus: Building capacity.
  • WikiFundi, an Open Source Platform to Learn New Skills and Collaborate on Wikipedia-Like Articles ― lightning talk by Florence Devouard (Wiki in Africa), within the topic "Technologies for Open Education" (UNESCO Area of Focus: Building capacity)

The Open Education Global Conference is where the world meets to present and advance the ways open education improves access, participation, and success in education.
