This summer the education team is pleased to welcome a summer intern, Abel Asrat. Abel is an active Wikimedian from Ethiopia and is completing his graduate studies at Ohio University, where he is focusing on Communication Development. Abel has been active in the Amharic Wikimedia community since 2014, and has a background in journalism and open movements. He founded Addis Insight, a digital news platform in Ethiopia in 2016. This summer, Abel will be working on a program plan to start a Wikipedia Education Program in Ethiopia.
As part of his initial work, Abel has been reaching out to our community members who are running programs Ghana and Nigeria. With a strong communications background, Abel may also be working with Nichole on communications projects this summer.
