The Wikimedia Education Portal is a hub for people around the world who are interested in the use of Wikipedia and its sister projects in education. It provides a common platform for individuals and organizations committed to fostering learning about Wikipedia and its sister projects in various contexts in order to teach people how to effectively use them and to attract more active contributors. Our Guiding Principle: Shared Learning based on Diversity and TransparencyeditOur goal is to take stock of the various initiatives, to share our experiences and best practices, to engage in common capacity building, and to provide guidance to people interested in joining us in our endeavor – be it globally or locally. Making Wikipedia and its sister projects accessible to as many people as possible requires a diversity of approaches across different target groups, countries, languages, and geographies. We also believe that diversity fosters innovation. We therefore encourage participants to find new and innovative ways in working in their respective areas and to share their experiences. Open and transparent communication will help us to grow our shared understanding of how to effectively build, maintain and expand our initiatives. |
