עלייה לרמת הנגב - ישוב חדש בנגב - שכן ערבי מבקר את שכניו החדשים

התמונה צולמה על ידי הצלם לזר דינר, בתאריך 19 בנובמבר 1947. בתמונה ניתן לראות את הקמת היישוב "רמת נגב" שנבנה על ידי גרעין אופקים של בוגרי הנוער העובד והלומד, הגרעין מנה 53 חברים, מתוכן 12 בנות. הגרעין התגייס לפלמ"ח באפריל 1946 ושוחרר בנובמבר,1947 וב-19 בנובמבר 1947 כ-40 מחברי הגרעין הקימו את קיבוץ "רמת הנגב". במשך כשנתיים פעל הקיבוץ ובמרס 1949, לאחר שרבים מחבריו התגייסו למלחמת העצמאות, התפרק היישוב בעקבות משבר בחקלאות וחוסר פרנסה. עוד לפני המלחמה כוחו הכלכלי של היישוב התערער בשל היעדר הכשרה ויכולת חקלאית. שתי הדמויות בתמונה לבושות באופן המייצג את מוצאם. הדמות השמאלית, מאפיינת את המראה הבדואי. היחס של "השכנים הערביים" (כפי שכתוב בכותרת התמונה), היה של שיתוף פעולה ועזרה לחלוצים בתקווה כי ירוויחו מכך. חבישת הכאפייה, על ידי היהודים החלוצים, מאפיינת את הרצון של המתיישבים היהודיים להידמות למראה הערבי על מנת ליצור הגדרה חדשה של החלוצים והעולים מאירופה. התמונה נחקרה על ידי הסטודנטיות והסטודנט: אדר שק, עלמה אופק, מרי פרסון ושי קסל
