Summary

Description
English: Helgøy church was used by the small remote island community of Helgøy, which is only accessible by boat. The church building itself was first built in Helgeland in 1741, then moved north to Senja in 1872, and finally moved to serve the community of Helgøy in 1888. This was part of a practice of reusing consecrated buildings to serve isolated communities. Helgøy's homes are now used as holiday cabins, and the church is used once a year during the summer solstice.
