Summary

Description
English: Organotypic brain slice preparation using the vibroslicer. The brain mounted inside the DMEM-agarose matrix was glued onto the copper platform. The blade was then properly aligned as described in the methods section. Ice-cold PBS containing P/S was added to the recipient covering both the blade and imbedded brain. Once activated, the vibroslicer, at predetermined slicing amplitude and frequency, cuts OTBS of precise thickness. These OTBS, contrasted by the phenol red in the DMEM, can easily be seen. They are then lifted by the blade, scooped, and transferred to the appropriate medium.
