English: This video sequence shows the rapid brightening and slower fading of a supernova explosion in the galaxy NGC 1365. The supernova, which has been named SN 2012fr, was discovered by French astronomer Alain Klotz on 27 October 2012. The images compiled to create this sequence were captured by the TAROT telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile.
This media was created by the European Southern Observatory (ESO).
