Wikipedista Danny B. z České republiky se zúčastnil RecentChangesCampu v Austrálii. Jeho účast byla možná díky grantové pomoci z Wikimedia Austrálie. Jeho cesta z České republiky do Canberry trvala přes 40 hodin, včetně přenocování v jihokorejském Soulu a v Sydney a skončila tříapůlhodinovou jízdou autobusem ze Sydney do Canberry. RecentChangesCampu se zúčastnil díky vztahům navázaným na GLAMcampu Amsterdam v prosinci 2011. Podílel se na několika sezeních a australští účastníci si cenili vzájemné spolupráce kvůli jeho znalostem GLAMu, schopnostem zvládat složitou syntax Mediawiki a obecným zkušenostem s editováním a také proto, že oceňovali, jak dlouhou cestu musel absolvovat, aby se zúčastnil jejich akce.
Hi! I would like to ask, why is this notice marked as a "Czech Republic report"? There is no information about Czech GLAM projects. Danny B. has not mentioned himself as a member of Czech GLAM team and there is no project marked that he would cooperated on. Thank You for your answer! --Gampe 18:45, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Well, I thing that the name of this page ("Czech Republic report") is controversial, because Danny B. even not push away doesn't communicate with Czech GLAM group. So we know just that he is traveling to different GLAM meetings and that he is "cool" there and warmly welcomed. Thats what we can read within lines. So for us it is not so "cool" as he doesn't share this experience with us.--Juandev (talk) 20:32, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- This report is named the Czech Republic report because reports are generally written based on countries, and Danny B. is from the Czech Republic. The event was not a GLAM Conference. (It is actually a generally wiki conference in its sixth year, and third in Australia organised by the wider wiki community. I've provided further information on Australia's GLAM report, and linked to the relevant RCC pages.) Several participants just happened to be drawn from the Wikimedia GLAM community and they ended up leading discussions related to their GLAM efforts or mentioning their experiences in other sessions: Hence why RecentChangesCamp is mentioned in three country newsletters. I asked Danny B. to attend, and he ended up being offered funding through Wikimedia Australia. Danny B. had really good credentials that helped justify this funding offer: He knew the technical backend of some of these projects which was of interest to a few of our members, had GLAM experience that might be of interest to our members, had editing experience on various wikis, and could discuss issues regarding working on non-English Wikimedia projects, which is an area we'd like to improve on in Australia in terms of Indigenous languages in the region. And rather more importantly, the grant funding came through at the last minute: He was able to get time off to come to Australia (with the huge time to travel), book tickets to be paid back later and arrange a visa. (We would like to have had a South African, Philippine, Bangladeshi attend, but visa issues complicated it and we couldn't get them here and arrange all the funding.) I'm really glad everything worked out and Danny B. could attend. I doubt we'll have the funding next year to bring in many internationals again, but we'd love to see more Czechs at the next one. :D We could double Czech to make sure our Czech jokes were as funny the second time around. ;) (Seriously, we made a lot of Czech jokes and Danny B. was amazing at dealing with them all.) --LauraHale (talk) 09:18, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
- Well, you are right. He is from the Czech Republic, but you are reporting to the Autralian event. I dont mind in fact, just wanted to point its controversial. What kind of GLAM experience Danny B. had?--Juandev (talk) 21:46, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
OK, ok. But why did you change that Czech version we have already repaired back to this horrific pseudolanguage? Was there any intention or is it just a fault? Please, use automatic translations to Czech never more. --15:14, 1 February 2012 (UTC), Utar (talk)
