On Thursday March 17, the staff and volunteers from Wikimedia Argentina moved to the city of La Plata, to edit on human rights and crimes against humanity.
The event was organized by Wikimedia Argentina, Facultad de Periodismo, Cosecha Roja and agrupación HIJOS.
Among the participants of the event were Judge Maria Roqueta , who had condemned the repressor Jorge Rafael Videla; they were also present in the event of grouping people Miguel Bru and students tecnicatura in Digital Journalism.

On Saturday March 19, we continued working with the participants of WIKILESA I and many new ones. This time the edit-a-thon was in the House of Militancy of the Grouping CHILDREN in Capital Federal. For four hours documents, models and eleven articles were reviewed articles repressions, two trials and a space were prepared.

Wikidata tour visits Jakarta

Welcome to our first Asia report. We hope to see more reports from colleagues in Asian countries in future editions - you can help!
Wikidata Tour
Andy Mabbett continued his Wikidata tour, (see last month's GLAM-Wikidata report and last month's Australia and New Zealand report) by visiting Jakarta, hosted by the local chapter, Wikimedia Indonesia (WMID), with travel arrangements kindly facilitated by Wikimedia Australia, for a series of talks and meetings. Speaking alongside WMID's John Vandenberg, who talked about Pywikibot, he gave talks on Wikidata to members of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap team, and separately to WMID members. He then joined WMID colleagues at meetings with the Language Research & Development Body, part of Indonesia's Ministry of Education.
It is noted with appreciation that several WMID volunteers have since taken with gusto to adding data to Wikidata, not least many labels in the various Indonesian languages, and further collaboration in future is anticipated.

Just For The Record: March
Just For The Record is a project addressing how gender is represented in new media and writing/publishing tools like Wikipedia, and what influence this has on the way history is recorded. To address these issues Just For The Record organised a series of events in Brussels starting in January 2016.
On 8 March the team of Just For The Record was present with a stand during International Women's Day at Muntpunt, the library, meeting place and activity centre in the heart of Brussels. There visitors from the library were informed about the project and the problems Wikipedia faces with gender neutrality. The project received much interest and positive reviews from the library's public.
During the Ladyfest 2016 on 18-20 March in Brussels, the team of Just For The Record gave two presentations about their project.

Ladyfest is originally an American project that was created in order to react to the invisibility of women on the artistic and musical scene. It has grown into an international non-profit event that takes place in more than 50 cities all over the world.

Wiki Loves Art
In the summer of 2016, during the months of July and August, Wiki Loves Art is organised in Belgium. The photo contest is similar to Wiki Loves Monuments, but instead of cultural heritage sites, a different part of the Belgian heritage is photographed: Art.
For this project we work together with Packed vzw, FARO, Open Knowledge Belgium, and Creative Commons Belgium.
In March we worked on a call for action (invitation) for museums and other organisations to participate in our project, and have sent it out.
Brussels writing weeks
After some acts of hate in Brussels in March, in April it is again time for love. For some weeks, already before the bombings, we were working on organising two writing weeks with a focus on the Brussels Capital Region. This event will be largely online, but also on location in various libraries in Brussels.
To prepare for the writing sessions at the libraries, we organised together with the Flemish Community Commission multiple training days where staff of the libraries in Brussels learned how Wikipedia works, what they need to think of with writing an article, and an understanding of what Wikipedia and Wikimedia are.
The upcoming writing weeks are planned on 4 to 17 April 2016. More information will be available here: Writing week/Brussels.
Zoology, feminism and contemporary art
Enriching zoology content on Commons and Wikipedia
Wikimedia France signed a new partnership with the Pierre and Marie Curie University. The university houses some historical scientific collections : zoology, paleontology, minerals, Musée Dupuytren, etc. As a first step in this partnership, volunteers started to photograph the collection of zoology and a student from the university will describe the pictures. A lot of mounted skeletons and taxidermied animals on Commons in the upcoming months! This new partnership features a pedagogical aspect as one of the students of the university will be writing a story about the collection, to put an emphasis on how one can highlight an almost forgotten collection by bringing it to the digital world.
Similar projects have already been done with the University of Rennes 1 and the Natural History Museum of the city of Toulouse.
Art+Feminism 2016
For the second year in a row, Wikimédia France, together with the Galeries Lafayette foundation and the French National archives organized the biggest edit-a-thon ever led in France. More than 600 people came during these 48 hours of editing, listening to conferences and discussions around gender issues and contemporary art. Art+Feminism USA even stated that this Parisian edition gathered more people than the one in the MoMa : we're proud ! This was made possible by an extensive involvement of our local volunteers, and other Wikipedians, led by Kvardek du who trained many newbies, and also coordinated a series of workshops ahead of the edit-a-thon. Kudos to them ! The other great feature of this event was the tripartite coordination with the involvement of the National Archives which reconducted their partnership with Wikimédia France last December, and which hosted the event in their sumptuous buildings.
Wiki loves librarians
Welcome librarians to the Wikiverse worldcafé
7,000 mainly German librarians came together at the annual BID conference this year in Leipzig. Together with Raymond, UweRohwedder and Oursana we presented to sixty of them how to start collaboration in Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons or Wikidata. In the Worldcafé the participants were speed dating after an introductional talk the three projects. Each one presented by a volunteer. 20 minutes to ask questions, talk on concerns and get the bold ones to register as new users.

Edit-a-thon at the Music Library of Greece
On Wednesday the 23rd of March 38 people gathered at the Music Library of Greece to enrich Wikipedia articles with parts of the music collection of the Friends of Music Society. The theme was the traditional music and dance of Thrace and eastern Macedonia. The event was organised by Europeana Sounds and the Friends of Music Society. Manos Kefalas (instructor in a by him founded Wikipedia school in Athens), along with his students, helped prepare the event and gave valuable guidelines and instructions to all the participants. Furthermore Costas Papadimas from the Greek Free/Open Source Software Society gave a speech about Open Source software and Rights Labeling Licences, and helped the participants in Wikipedia editing as well. At the end of the day the participants created 11 new Wikipedia articles and used 34 different audio items to enrich Wikipedia articles 43 times. For example the zurna wind instrument can be heard on the Greek and English Wikipedia thanks to the participants of this edit-a-thon. The event was covered by journalist Aimilios Charbis in an article published in the Greek newspaper Kathimerini.
Biggest donation of photos from an Italian institution
Paolo Monti archive now on Commons - 17.000 photos!

In the early April the GLAM/BEIC project uploaded almost the entire digital photo archive of an important Italian photographer, Paolo Monti, with nearly 17.000 images (the whole archive was acquired by Fondazione BEIC in 2008).
This represents the biggest donation of images in one shot ever made in Italy. It’s also the first time that a digital archive from a famous italian photographer is almost completely uploaded into Wikimedia Commons.
The photos represent various subjects (art, events, architecture, people, portraits, nature, artistic nudes, experimental) and were shot since 1950s to 1980s. Many of them are B/W, but there are also many colourful artistic/experimental pictures as well as the first strips collection (with test prints etc.) of Commons.
The photos uploaded were all selected and "tagged" manually by BEIC-commissioned cataloguers working according to the standards. To give Commons the best quality end result possible, the upload was done with the highest resolution available with all available metadata. - see them in Commons:Category:Photographs by Paolo Monti
Now there is a lot of work to do, in improving categories, using images into Wikipedia articles, and selecting the best photos to candidate them as "featured pictures" or "valued images" - see Commons:BEIC.
Special day announced at the Science Museum of Milan
In May 21 2016 there will be a special opening day at the National Science and Techonogy Museum "Leonardo da Vinci" in Milan dedicated to Wikimedians and OSMappers. Thanks to Wikimedia Italia, in the museum we have a Wikipedian in residence, Marco Chemello, who is actively training the museum personnel (20 persons involved!) in using Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, and pushing for freeing digital contents and photos. The special day will involve also the other Wikipedians in residence now active in Italy, museum professionals and the public.

Edit-a-thon at the National Library of Latvia
On Saturday the 12th of March 18 people gathered at the National Library of Latvia to write articles about Latvian musicians and composers and enrich Wikipedia with a part of the National Library of Latvia's music collection. The event was organised by Europeana Sounds together with the National Library of Latvia. Mārtiņš Bruņenieks from the Wikimedians of Latvia User Group gave a presentation about Wikipedia and explained how to write, edit and enrich Wikipedia articles. Futrhermore, Mārtiņš Bruņenieks together with Edgars Lecis and Edgars Košovojs from the User Group gave the participants guidance during the day.
The participants managed to write 42 new Wikipedia articles, for example, this article about Hermanis Brauns.
The National Library released 80 audio files from their collection of historical Latvian sound recordings to enrich Wikipedia articles. Also 33 audio files were used to enrich Wikipedia articles 58 times. The day before the edit-a-thon Zane Grosa and Artūrs Žogla (National Library of Latvia) were interviewed by a morning show of Latvian Independent Television and during the event their news crew came to see how it was going and interviewed several participants.
The event concluded with tour around library, including storage rooms filled with beautiful books, sheet music, vinyls and cd’s.
Editing competition about the villages in Aegean Macedonia
After the first edit-a-thon organized as a part of the celebration of the 15th anniversary of Wikipedia and held at the Library of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts where the Wikipedians have been editing directly from the books with abundant materials of information, Shared Knowledge have decided to use those available materials for organizing a large scale venture such as editing competition. On the proposal of the project coordinator of the Community Ehrlich91 the topic of the competition was chosen to be the "Villages in Aegean Macedonia", which in fact was a continuation of the theme of the edit-a-thon. In accordance with the Library, the Wikimedian-in-residence at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts have entirely scanned the two volumes of the book Settlements in Aegean Macedonia on 723 pages in total for use as a referent scientific material for the purposes of the editing competition.
With this topic we want to increase quality of Macedonian Wikipedia, because we have a lot of articles about villages in Aegean Macedonia, that are written at the beginning of the Macedonian Wikipedia and have just a few word and nothing more. With this editing competition we change this and we hope that the editors will continue writes or improves articles about this villages, now using the referent literature.
Outcomes and results of the competition
After the all preparations such as providing and distribution of literature, creating templates for references and project page with all necessary information have been undertaken, the beginning of the competition was scheduled to start on 22nd of February and last until 21st of March. Six editors have participated editing 419 articles in total, which covers 0,5% of the total number of articles on Macedonian Wikipedia (on 21st of March). Almost 90% of articles written during the competition were completely new or improved in significant way, because the articles about this topic on Macedonian Wikipedia were in very poor quality (just a few words, without pictures, citations, etc.).
Open Culture Data Lab
Open Culture Data Lab will start shortly
During the month of March people at Kennisland and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision have worked hard to prepare a series of masterclasses in which collection holders and data-professionals are educated in opening up their collection and digital objects. It will also address the opportunities that the Wikimedia projects offer for enriching and publishing open data and open collections. Part of the course material is the Open Cultural Data Reader which can be found here (in Dutch). In the next few months expect some contributions from participants of the masterclasses.
Content donation Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen
The Nationaal Museum voor Wereldculturen is a merge of 3 Dutch museums holding anthropological collections - the Tropenmuseum, the Museum Volkenkunde and the Afrikamuseum. As part of the Expeditie Wikipedia project, it has donated another 720 images from their digitised collections. These images are now available at Wikimedia Commons and include photos of objects, landscapes, houses and activities in, among others, Indonesia and Suriname.
Meetings long-term GLAM Partners and Wikimedia Netherlands
In February and March Wikimedia Netherlands met with several their long-term GLAM partners. During these meetings prior projects and future plans were discussed. Various projects and donations from these partners are planned for the coming year and will be announced through the newsletter and other relevant channels.
The GLAM partners are Tropenmuseum (now part of Nationaal Museum voor Wereldculturen), Koninklijke Bibliotheek, Nationaal Archief, NIOD, Museum Catharijneconvent, Rijksmuseum, and Beeld & Geluid.
First GLAM project in the Republic of Srpska
Notable Serbs of Sarajevo
Editorial workshop titled "Notable Serbs of Sarajevo" was the first GLAM project realized through cooperation between Wikimedia Community of the Republic of Srpska and the City of East Sarajevo Main Library. Goal of the workshop was creation of new and edition of already existing biography articles regarding life and work of accomplished Serbs from city of Sarajevo. City of East Sarajevo Main Library welcomed the use of its internet reading room while providing Wikimedia Community of the Republic of Srpska with necessary literature and other help. Workshop was held on 23rd March and lasted from 10:00 to 16:00. Some of the community volunteers were introduced to the basics of article creation for the first time during this event. Nine community members and volunteers participated in the workshop. Seventeen new articles were created. Representatives of both the City of East Sarajevo Main Library and Wikimedia Community of the Republic of Srpska expressed their wish for further cooperation.

GLAMers opened their doors to Wikimedia Serbia
Historical Archives of Belgrade
Historical Archives of Belgrade released 30 photos under Creative Commons licences, representing the history of the capital of Serbia. Among the photos there are those from the 16th century, as well as maps, drawings, records from the registers, photographs of notable people, such as President of Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito with other officials or Danica Tomić, the first woman pilot. Release of these photos had a positive impact in the Serbian Wiki community, and 12 articles on Wikipedia were illustrated with these photos.
Theatre "Boško Buha"
Theatre "Boško Buha" has released 23 files under Creative Commons licence. The 100th anniversary of performance of their popular play "Mrs. Minister" was chosen as start of cooperation. On this occasion volunteers of Wikimedia Serbia visited the show, and then, with the sources that was provided by the theatre, wrote an article on Serbian Wikipedia.
Edit-a-thon - World Mime Day
Wikimedia Serbia, in cooperation with the World Mime Organization, organized an edit-a-thon on March 22nd, the International Mime Day. Biographies of famous mime actors, acting and pantomime techniques, mime organizations, performances and artists were given their place on Serbian Wikipedia thanks to the volunteers who have written 15 new and improved two articles. Some of the articles are illustrated with 14 photos released by the World Mime Organisation. The global community was invited to join the event (via "Wikimedia-L" list and Meta page), and support came from Macedonia, where Wikipedians wrote nine new articles. Special guest of the edi-a-thon was the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Serbia Irena Vojackova Solorano, which has welcomed this action, particularly by supporting volunteerism. This event was particulary interesting to media in Serbia, which has resulted in 42 media reports.
Wiki librarian workshop and lecture
On 4th and 5th of March, librarians from the University Library Svetozar Marković, realized a workshop at the Public Library Bora Stankovic in Vranje. Facilitators were coordinators of annual project Wiki librarian, part of Wikimedia Serbia GLAM program. During the workshop, 18 librarians wrote 9 new and improved 8 articles on Serbian Wikipedia and hosting library Bora Stankovic released three photos under Creative Commons licences.
In addition, within the Open Education Week, the leader of this project Aleksandra Popović, presented the Wiki-librarian with the lecture Wikipedia - the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit: Project Wiki librarian.
Libraries, free pictures and audios & new partners
Activities in libraries and museums
In March we have organized and participated in various activities held in libraries. In the Reina Sofía Library in Valladolid and in the La Yutera Library in Palencia, of the University of Valladolid, we organized two Wikipedia courses, four sessions each. Also, we celebrated two edit-a-thons on women; the first, on March 5, at the Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas Library, in Valencia, in the context of Art and Feminism initiative, with great results and attention to various media. The second, at the National Museum of Science and Technology, in La Coruña, on scientists, under the For women in Science de L’Orèal project.
Free pictures
In March we covered three events for obtaining pictures and upload them to Wikimedia Commons under a free license. They were a footbal game between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo, in Madrid, the Paellas Festival in Alicante, and the whole Holy Week in Malaga, whose processions are of touristic interest.
Free audios
In November 2013, Wikimedia Spain got 2763 images under a free license from the Joaquín Díaz Foundation. They were old images of places, people, monuments and landscapes from Spain. It was the first collaboration with them. In March we have presented the second part of the collaboration, the upload to Wikimedia Commons of 21,258 audio files, recordings of folk songs and romances from different provinces of Spain, also under a free license.
New partners
in March we met for the first time with several GLAM institutions, with very positive results, so we hope organize interesting activities in the coming months. Among them, the National Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts in Valencia, the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology in Cartagena, the Castilla y León Library, the Castilla y León Digital Library and Archives and Libraries Direction of the Government of Castilla y León.
Open Data; Art+Feminism; Open Heritage
Upplandsmuseet
Upplandsmuseet hosted a workshop where the local community invited new editors. Axel Pettersson talked about how to edit and interact with the community and Barbro Björnemalm talked about Digitaltmuseum.se and how to search for images and what images can be used in both Wikipedia and other places.
Open Data Day
On Open Data Day, March 5th, Wikimedia Sverige and the Swedish branch of Open Knowledge Foundation hosted an event at the WMSE office. 19 participants from different parts of the Open Data world in Stockholm got together to learn more and help each other in different projects. Presentations were given on project Fråga staten (get public data from authorities), Local Open Data Index and Connected Open Heritage. For the COH workshop the participants helped brainstorm and work out better arguments that we can use to get governments and National Heritage Boards to release their cultural heritage data.
ArtAndFeminism at the Hallwyl museum
The Hallwyl museum, Ellen Key Institute and Carl Larsson's house hosted an edit-a-thon March 8th as part of Art+Feminism 2016. Many of the almost 30 participants were from different GLAM institutions, but there were also some volunteers who helped new editors to find their way around Wikipedia. The participants were also invited to tour the museum exhibitions, and to listen to short presentations from the organizers on the life of Ellen Key and Karin Larsson.
Connected Open Heritage
Connected Open Heritage moves on, and apart from Open Data Day we attended several events. Andre and Axel went to a seminar on persistent identifiers organized, John and Axel went to Paris for Unesco Mobile Learning Week, and to meet up with John Cummings and Axel went to a seminar on safety and security as it comes to buildings and physical objects. GLAM Marches on in the UK
Museums Galleries Scotland
Sara Thomas' residency at Museums Galleries Scotland, the national development body for the museum sector in Scotland, is ongoing. An Art+Feminism editathon was held at the National Portrait Gallery on 5 March, where 6 new articles were created, and 8 improved. On 31 March an editathon was held at Glasgow Women's Library where 3 new articles were created, 5 improved, and 10 images added to the commons.
Sara also spoke at the Scottish Library and Information Council's Digital Champions meeting at the Mitchell Library on 29 March.
With only 2 months left in this residency, a good deal of work is being put in to make the most of the time remaining. More information is available on the project page, including the 12 month report, which covers the period Jan 2015 - Jan 2016.
National Library of Wales
The Wikipedian in Residence at the National Library of Wales continued in his role. This month the National Library held an Art and Feminism Edit-a-thon as part of the global campaign. 15 Volunteers attended, including 11 Women. 10 new articles were created and 12 were greatly improved.
The Resident Wikipedian delivered a lecture about Wikipedia and the Natural Sciences to Royal Society of Chemistry members at Aberystwyth University.
The National Library uploaded 8 high quality artworks to Commons as part of the Europeana 280 project and staff will hold an edit-a-thon in April to improve related Wiki content.
And finally, the National Library of Wales became the first UK institution to take part in the Wikipedia Visiting Scholars scheme, which was established by the Wiki Education Foundation.
Oxford
The end of March was the end of Martin Poulter's one-year contract as Wikimedian In Residence at the Bodleian Libraries. Some work is continuing in unpaid time. The funding bid for a Wikimedian In Residence at the University of Oxford has passed the first two hurdles in a series of four. If successful, the University post would last one year starting in June.
Nearly 4,000 images were uploaded this month, mainly from manuscripts in the collection of the Bodleian Library. These manuscripts are in Latin, Hebrew, Old English and Old French and include musical notation, charts and calendars, portraits and depictions of Biblical scenes. See the gallery on Commons for examples.
Oxford hosted an edit-a-thon on "Women and Wikipedia" with seven trainees. To support the event, St Hilda's College and Lady Margaret Hall (two former women-only colleges) contributed to Wikimedia for the first time, each sharing four images from their archives.
One of the trainees at the edit-a-thon was an archivist who is working on a funded project. She and a colleague aim to improve the Wikipedia article about en:Mabel Purefoy FitzGerald as one of the outcomes of the project. It has been suggested by senior staff at the university that Wikimedia outreach should be costed into research project bids under the heading of impact, and this is an idea I'm promoting.
Wikidata
The Wikidata property for indicating the Vice Counties of the British Isles for wildlife recording sites was deleted. An appeal against the deletion is in hand.
BartBotje; Rats as dino models; Auditory illusion; Crab-hunting octopus
BartBotje
For quite some time, Bj.schoenmakers' bot BartBotje has been an active contributor to articles about biological species on the Dutch Wikipedia. Recently, its activities have expanded to Commons, where it has begun to upload hundreds of images of such species, many of which originated from Open Access sources. A selection is shown below:

The following represents a selection of the files that have been uploaded this month from open-access sources. Most of these came from PubMed Central through the Open Access Media Importer — whose uploads now total over 21,700 — and from BartBotje (see section above). If you can think of wiki pages where these files (or other files from the same source articles) could be useful, please put them in there or let us know.
Hashtags, Campaigns and New Access donations
This report covers the work of The Wikipedia Library in supporting research hubs, which offer a place for active Wikipedia editors to gain access to the vital reliable sources that they need to do their work and to be supported in using those resources to improve the encyclopedia. We aim to make access and use of sources free, easy, collaborative and efficient. For more information, see The Wikipedia Library on meta.
#1lib1ref Lessons published and Blogpost on hashtags
At the beginning of March, The Wikipedia Library team published what it learned from organizing the #1lib1ref campaign. The event, which asked librarians to add one more reference to Wikipedia, successfully engaged librarians and Wikimedia communities the world over. We published what we learned from the campaign at The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Lessons, and would like to invite GLAM-Wiki leaders for feedback on what we learned in the campaign.
Building on these learnings, we also worked with the Hatnote Team, volunteer developers Stephen LaPorte and Mahmoud Hashemi, to document how hashtags are being used throughout the movement to improve organization of bot contributions, events and editing campaigns. We published a blog post on The Wikimedia Foundation Blog.
New Partnerships
The Wikipedia Library was happy to announce 8 new partnerships, and 2 expansions of existing partnership during March. One of the partnerships was identified by User:Pigsonthewing as part of his Austral-Asia Wikidata/GLAM-Wiki tour, reported last month. We also saw several other volunteer-negotiated partnerships this month, including Miramar Ship Index, Noormags and Kotobna. We invite all GLAM-Wiki and other community leaders to explore our partner pitch strategy: w:en:Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library/Processes/Pitching partners. - Cambridge University Press - a major publisher of academic journals and e-books in a variety of subject areas. Access includes both Cambridge Journals Online and Cambridge Books. 25 accounts.
- Alexander Street Press Academic Video Online - a large academic video collection good for a wide range of subjects, including news programs (such as PBS and BBC), music and theatre, lectures and demonstrations, and documentaries. 25 accounts.
- Baylor University Press - a publisher of academic e-books primarily in religious studies and the humanities. 50 accounts.
- Future Science Group - a publisher of medical, biotechnological and scientific research. 30 accounts.
- Annual Reviews - a publisher of review articles in the biomedical sciences. 100 accounts.
- Miramar Ship Index - an index to ships and their histories since the early 19th century. 30 accounts.
Non-English
- Noormags - Farsi-language aggregator of academic and professional journals and magazines. 30 accounts.
- Kotobna - Arabic-language ebook publishing platform. 20 accounts.
Expansions
- Gale - large aggregator of newspapers, magazines and journals. 50 accounts.
- Elsevier ScienceDirect - an academic publishing company that publishes medical and scientific literature. 100 accounts.
A really busy month all round
Upcoming: WikiCite 2016
On May 25-26, WikiCite 2016 will take place in Berlin. Its purpose is to define a technical roadmap for building a repository of Wikimedia references in Wikidata. To this end, it will bring together Wikidatans, Wikipedians, developers, data modelers, academic researchers and information and library science experts from organizations including Wikimedia DE, Wikimedia IT, Wikimedia DC, Crossref, Zotero, CSL, ContentMine, Google, Datacite, NISO, OCLC and the NIH. While participation is limited, applications can be submitted until April 11.
Tech developments
- We reduced the loading time of items significantly. Enjoy a faster Wikidata!
- Arbitrary access for Commons is getting ready and needs testing
- Wikidata external ID resolver now uses SPARQL and supports lookup of properties via English name (fragment)
- Wikidata passed the milestone of 1 Billion Datapoints (Triples) on Wednesday, 9th of March.
- You can now show labels/descriptions/aliases for all languages that have been added to an item by clicking "more languages"
- Listeria bot now has experimental support for references (example)
- Wikidata Graph Builder now supports arbitrary SPARQL queries (example)
- Wikidata Query GUI now supports maps. Check it out with one of the example queries above. (Select Map under Display results menu).
- You can now add a default view to a query like here. This then shows the defined view (map, table, image grid) when executing the query.
- Awarder lets you add awards to a biographical item, or use the Wikipedia text of the award to add all recipients]
- Conversion of properties from string to external identifier datatype is ongoing, but slow
GLAM news
- The page for institutions, companies, etc who want to donate data to Wikidata has been reworked and expanded
- The property for indicating the Vice Counties of the British Isles for wildlife recording sites was deleted. An appeal against the deletion is in hand.

- iSpecies now has multilingual summaries and links to Wikidata (example)
- Pywikibot now has SPARQL endpoint support.
