Engaging Institutional Repository in Wikipedia
University libraries in Ukraine are still far from using opportunities to educate different organizational audiences engaging with Wikipedia and exposing their collections in Wikipedia. At the same time, the general view for Open Access in Ukraine is positive. Institutional repositories have become a popular method for universities and other research institutions to make their research available. Among the most active universities of Ukraine, which is keen on the projects of open access is National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”. Among other things, University`s Library has been participating in Open Access Week for the last 4-5 years and connected the global initiative by organizing talks, workshops, lectures etc [1].
This year Open Acess Week program included new activity: edit-a-thon on adding the links and citations from the university repository eKMAIR to the Ukrainian Wikipedia. As the result on October, 28, 6 librarians had contributed to 39 articles. These were references in relevant articles section and adding citations in body sections.
Activity was inspired bu the #1Lib1Ref campaign, which unfortunanetly was not promoted in Ukraine in 2016.
