Participation in I National Meeting of Conservation and digitizing
The Museum of the Cabildo y de la Revolución de Mayo, along with other GLAM institutions organized for the fourth consecutive year a meeting with cultural and professional organizations in Argentina and Chile. The same was held at Manzana de las Luces.
It was sponsored by more than 5 local prestigious institutions such as the Ministry of Culture, the University of Argentine Social Museum, the magazine Lucas of Leyden, among others.
During the congress it became clear that the Wikimedia projects could prove vital for the dissemination of the cultural projects to preserve the argentine heritage carried out in Argentina.
The Digitizing project manager of Wikimedia Argentina, Mauricio V. Genta, gave a brief talk about Wikimedia and its projects. Focusing on the two most critical projects for this community and attendees: Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons, we focused the subject in the importance of the work that can be achieved with Wikimedia Argentina as partner to highlight these institutions and their heritage for a common benefit.
Wiki Loves Monuments in Belgium & Luxembourg
Wiki Loves Monuments
In September we organised for the 5th time Wiki Loves Monuments in Belgium and Luxembourg. Since 2011 the photo contest was organised four times on a row, we skipped 2015 to have a break and to organise Wiki Loves Art. During September we organised four photo walks, held in Ghent, Mechelen, Antwerp, and Liège. The contest has led to the great result of 3007 photos being uploaded in total, 2988 photos of monuments from Belgium, 13 photos of monuments from Luxembourg, and 6 other photos of subjects that are not a monument. In total 121 people participated in the contest, 116 in Belgium and 7 in Luxembourg. Now the jury is judging the photos to determine a winner and on 25 November we organise the prize ceremony in Brussels.
The relatively low number of uploads in Luxembourg is not new, but also illustrates the situation that all monuments from Luxembourg already have a photo on Wikipedia. In Belgium the situation is different and depends on the region. In Belgium the monuments are not registered by the federal government, but by the three regional heritage organisations of the three regional governments. In Wallonia we estimate that about 80-90% of the monuments already have a photo. The same for the Brussels Capital Region. Different is the situation in Flanders. The Flemish Government has registered much more monuments in comparison to the other two regions, and it depends very much on the situation if there has been a local photographer active or not, if the listed monuments have mostly a photo or not.
We have relative small community in Belgium, and organising Wiki Loves Monuments takes a huge amount of time in comparison to the results and the difficulty to get the last remaining monuments on photo. Therefore the current Wiki Loves Monuments organisers think that it will be better if we do not organise the contest in the coming years, but to focus on finding alternative ways to get the remaining monuments on photo. Still other community members can organise Wiki Loves Monuments in the coming years. We are interested in learning from other countries what activities they organise there locally to get the remaining monuments on photo, and like to hear your suggestions.
Wiki Loves Monuments is a great project and made it possible for us to grow and gain experience in organising projects together as a community, and also helped for the founding of Wikimedia Belgium. Besides getting photos of monuments uploaded and Wikipedia enriched with lists of monuments and photos, we would recommend for any country or area to organise Wiki Loves Monuments, if you want to grow your experience, build a community and having fun together.

A GLAM ostrich makes the day; Wiki Loves Monuments boost in Brazil
A GLAM ostrich makes the day
One of the images that was uploaded by the User Group Wikimedia in Brazil in the context of a GLAM initiative with the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy in São Paulo (Brazil) was chosen by the community as picture of the day and featured on projects all around the globe on September 28. It shows an ostrich skeleton, prepared by a technique of bone maceration; the picture was taken by Wagner Souza e Silva, a professor at the University of São Paulo, and voluntarily improved by veteran Commons contributor Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton. Images that have been uploaded may be seen at the Commons category on the museum collection. This initiative has the support of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center for Neuromathematics (RIDC NeuroMat).
The community decision to elect the "GLAM ostrich" as picture of the day gives visibility to a major effort to bring images from the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy to the Commons and other projects. So far, 64 images out of 300 to 400 pictures were uploaded. Uploads have been done in sets of 30 images, a slow pace that is justified by the museum director taking this initiative as an opportunity to review the metadata of each object. The expectation is that uploads will occur every other week. Three UG Wikimedia in Brazil members have been directly involved with this initiative; a volunteer has gone on average five hours a week to the museum to help filling metadata forms and uploading images to the Commons.
Pictures from the museum have started to be used by the community, and this interaction with the broader Wikimedia community has proven to help the museum improve its understanding of the collection. Editors from the English Wikipedia have identified a mistake in the description of one of the objects. What was mistakenly identified as a dehydrated foal by the museum director ended up being identified in an interaction from volunteers and a professor of veterinary anatomy at the University of São Paulo as a minihorse foal, that was donated to the museum several years ago and had never been correctly described. This image has also been nominated for picture of the day.
Images of the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy collection have been viewed 1,329,331 times, according to visualization web tool GLAMorgan. In August and July, views rose to 1,252,169 and 1,179,834, respectively.
The GLAM initiative with the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy has sparked media interest. It appeared on reports at the Brazilian Veterinary Anatomy Association, University of São Paulo official newspaper, largest magazine on dogs and cats in Brazil and web portal ARede Educa. A post on this initiative on a Facebook community has had over 1,000 shares and 2,000 likes.
An edit-a-thon at the University of São Paulo Department of Veterinary Anatomy has been associated to this initiative. During the edit-a-thon, 19 editors worked on entries pertaining to veterinary anatomy, with the guidance of a professor from the university. Sixteen of these editors were new to the projects; female participation was 14 out of 19 editors. This edit-a-thon remains one of the outreach activities planned to happen in parallel to uploading images of the museum collection. For instance, a video on the GLAM initiative is being considered of to be shown on a multimedia totem in the museum, which remains one of the most visited public museums in São Paulo.
The success of the GLAM initiative with the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy has been the occasion to spread partnerships with the 60 museums and cultural collections from the University of São Paulo. So far, partnerships with the Museum of Mathematics and the Museum of Education and Games have been established. Meetings with other cultural institutions within the University of São Paulo, the largest university in Latin America, are being scheduled.

Wiki Loves Monuments boost in Brazil
September was a month full of good news concerning Wiki Loves Monuments Brazil 2016. Since May, a group of volunteers have been collaborating with the contest, helping with the actualization and expansion of the Brazilian monument lists. Besides the work with the list of the monuments protected by the Brazilian Federal Institute of Cultural Heritage Preservation (IPHAN), the group was dedicated, during the month, to specially gather and organize new information about the monuments located in State of Sao Paulo. Most of them are monuments preserved by the State Council of Cultural Heritage Preservation (CONDEPHAAT) and the City Council of Cultural Heritage Preservation (CONPRESP). This was done as a pilot project for the next years, when Wiki Educação Brasil will try to focus on specific States of Brazil in order to gather more information about local monument lists – leading the contest to a more and more comprehensive profile. In early September, the GLAM project coordinator of Wiki Educação Brasil group, Juliana Monteiro, participated in the first meeting of museums of Great Sao Paulo. The meeting aimed to create a network of cooperation between institutions and professionals, linking them and stablishing a forum for discussing further joint projects. Among the agenda discussed at the event, the coordinator briefly presented the contest and proposed the participation of museums in the Great São Paulo in the dissemination of the competition.
One of the consequences of this action was the strong support from the Sao Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, which contributed greatly to the promotion of competition in the press. As a result of this collaboration, Juliana Monteiro gave an interview to SPTV newscast of Globo Television Network (largest public TV channel in Brazil)[1] and spoke to Radio Educativa of Piracicaba, a city of the State of São Paulo. The Secretariat museums were also encouraged to participate in the dissemination of the contest and, therefore, institutions such as the Museu Casa de Portinari, the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo and the Casa das Rosas joined the campaign to publicize the event on their social networks. The competition was also reported in the newspapers Estadão and ABC do ABC. In turn, the Wiki Group Educação Brasil also managed to highlight the competition in other big newspapers with circulation in São Paulo, like Estadão. Group members also helped to publicize the contest through social networks like Facebook.
Among other initiatives for the dissemination of the competition, the group of volunteers was able to print and distribute the contest graphic material as folders. On 18 September, the same group realized a photographic walk, which brought together 23 participants. The route covered the area of Liberdade, Sé and Anhangabaú and privileged passage through listed monuments in Wiki Loves Monuments 2016. The aim was to encourage interested persons to photograph the monuments and engage them in the contest. After the Sept 30th, it has begun the selection of the photographs phase.
Aiming at the dissemination and use of the material received not only in the edition of 2016, but also 2015, the Group also has dedicated itself to participate in bids to allow the development of projects focused on dissemination of the images. In this sense, the group submitted a project to a bid of the City of Rio de Janeiro, to conduct a short course on the Wiki projects and an exhibition on the Wiki Loves Monuments Brazil. It also submitted another project to a bid of the National Arts Foundation - FUNARTE that select small exhibition projects to be held in Brasilia, Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais, which should also circulate other states.

Edit-a-thon in the Research Library in Olomouc

The Edit-a-thon in the Research Library in Olomouc was held on Saturday 10 September 2016 on the occasion of the European Heritage Days and at the same time the 450th anniversary of the Research Library in Olomouc. Its main aim was to create or expand Wikipedia articles on the topics recommended by the library. The event was supported by the association Wikimedia Czech Republic.
Ten Wikipedians took part in the edit-a-thon, nine of which were from various parts of the Czech Republic and one from Slovakia. The Wikipedians were shown round the library buildings and its departments, especially the Study Room of Historical Collections. After this they started writing encyclopaedic articles. They were allowed to use all the necessary library resources and several librarians were helping them with their expertal knowledge and provided them with useful illustrations for the encyclopaedia articles, which were uploaded to Commons. Some other Wikipedians also supported the event with their contributions although they were not able to arrive in person. Two librarians, Anna Vitásková and Jitka Sládková, who took care of the participants, were at the same time also registered Wikipedians.

The Research Library had recommended 32 topics to work on, which included the library itself, its resources and also people connected either with the history of the library or with book publishing in Olomouc. New or expanded Czech Wikipedia articles included for example Gradual of Louka, Missale of Olomouc, Portolan atlas, Jan Olivetský z Olivetu, Mauric Remeš or Jaume Olives, and also many related illustrations. Approximately 60 thousand bytes of text were added to the Czech Wikipedia. The event was also reported by local press in Olomouc, specifically by the newspaper Olomoucký deník, online newspaper Metropole and the web pages of the Regional Authority of the Olomouc Region.
The representatives of both the Wikimedia Czech Republic and the Research Library agreed on the usefulness of mutual cooperation and decided to continue in future. Another step is a 6-hour workshop Píšeme Wikipedii ("We Write Wikipedia"), presented in three parts, for people interested in learning how to contribute to Wikipedia. The workshop is going to take place in the library in October 2016.

Exhibition of GLAM activities in Germany
More than 100 GLAM partners, 3 Coding da Vinci cultural hackathons, 12 GLAM on Tour events, around 200 volunteers and much new open content for the Wikimedia projects. In the last four years, there were many good activities happening in the GLAM sector in Germany. And what could be a better place for sharing the experiences with the wider Wikimedia community and to the public than the WikiCon 2016?
At the WikiCon 2016 that took place from 16 to 18 September in Kornwestheim in Southern Germany, 300 German speaking volunteers participated and discussed new topics of the Wikiverse. For the first time, the WikiCon had an open forum that was accessible for the general public, too. Based on the idea of the German GLAM volunteers, the forum got a touch of GLAM with a small exhibition about activities between volunteers and GLAM institutions.
The GLAM stand presented a map of Germany displaying all the partner institutions that cooperate with Wikimedia projects, for example by providing open cultural data for Wikimedia Commons, hosting a Wikipedian in Residence or co-organising a GLAM on Tour event. Based on that, another display presented the cultural hackathon Coding da Vinci that showed what coders and other creative people develop with open GLAM data, such as apps, websites or hardware prototypes. The third panel presented the format GLAM on Tour - the event when GLAM institutions and Wikipedians meet to exchange their knowledge. All those displays had the aim to motivate more volunteers to participate and to come up with own project ideas in cooperation with GLAM institutions.
The highlight however was a table presenting ten thick PediaPress books. Each book contains all the Wikipedia articles that were realized thanks to one GLAM on Tour event. Some books for example have more than 400 pages. Those books show tangibly the amount of work that volunteers contribute to the Wikimedia projects about GLAM topics. Nevertheless, the best aspect of the books and the exhibition was: they cherish the volunteers’ involvement and empower even more the motivation to continue working with GLAM institutions.

Wikipedians at Tridentine Diocesan Museum; Alpine Botanical Garden Viote
On Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th Trento hosted a Wiki Weekend, with guidet tours and edit-a-thons at the Tridentine Diocesan Museum and at the Alpine Botanical Garden Viote. Wikimedia Foundation contributed to both the events by paying the lunch for the participants!

On Saturday morning on the occasion of the European Heritage Days twelve wikipedians from Trentino and other parts of Italy had a guided tour to the Early Christian Basilica of San Vigilio (Basilica paleocristiana di San Vigilio), an archeological site just under the present Trento Cathedral, and to the Museo Diocesano Tridentino, located in the old Palazzo Pretorio.
In the afternoon the event continued with the edit-a-thon in the Museum. The wikipedians created new articles about Basilica paleocristiana di San Vigilio and Palazzo Pretorio (that they had just visited), Santa Massenzia, goldsmith Giuseppe Ignazio Pruchmayer and painter Elia Naurizio.
The participants uploaded 491 photos on Wikimedia Commons and they were also able to partecipate to Wiki Loves Monuments! Thanks Sailko for the huge number!
Giardino Botanico Alpino Viote
On Sunday morning seven wikipedians visited the Alpine Botanical Garden Viote (Monte Bondone), now a territorial section of MUSE - Science Museum.
In the afternoon Giardino Botanico Alpino Viote hosted an edit-a-thon. Wikipedians created articles about Androsace sarmentosa, Polygonum affine, Gaillardia aristata, Anemone japonica, Gentiana lawrencei, Astilbe microphylla, Swertia perennis, Sedum middendorffianum and Rifugio Viote.
194 photos were upload to Wikimedia Commons, including some beautiful macros! The photos of the Astilbe microphylla and Gentiana lawrencei are the only ones we have on Commons so they have particular value!

MakStatBaza
MakStatBaza (МакСтатБаза) is a project, whose leader is the Community head, Toni Ristovski, and aims to use the various data available from the databases of the State Statistical Office of Macedonia and enriching articles about settlements in the country by means of the available tools such as tables, charts and other means of data visualisation, presented in a standardised and uniform manner. We intend to develop the project further in order to cover data in areas other than population.
So far, 31 articles have been enriched with 8 different tables/graphs per article, focusing mostly on the demographics of settlements in Macedonia.
Macedonian Wikinews with Makfax
The Macedonian wiki community has had the idea of starting Wikinews in Macedonian for quite some time, but was held back due to lack of a willing news source. Now we have found very strong support in Makfax (Макфакс) news agency, who is more than willing to provide us with content and is very excited about the concept of their news being linked to Wikipedia articles. The chief editors and staff are excited about this opportunity and think that this will bring a new, more learned way of reading and understanding news.
We have submitted a request for creation of Macedonian Wikinews and are in the phase of working on the test pages in the Wikimedia Incubator.
Towards reducing gender gap in Wikipedia: "Editatona" Female writers
Like many technology projects, Wikipedia suffers a wide gender gap among its collaborators, as one in ten Wikipedians is female. But the problem does not stop there, because this gap is also reflected in Wikipedia's content: in Spanish, most of the biographies are of men. As a way to try to reduce this problem, Wikimedia Mexico created the "Editatona" initiative, editing marathons created by women for women with the express purpose of having more female editors and more published biographies about women.
In this edition of the Editatona, held last September 24 at the Biblioteca Vasconcelos (Vasconcelos Library) in Mexico City, we sought to create more articles about Mexican women writers and improve existing articles. The objective is not only existing content dedicated to the best-known women writers, in change create a greater number of biographies of women writers with extensive experience and awards of various kinds. The event was attended by experimented editors, organizations for reducing gender gap, new women editors, and women writers and women publishers.
The event began with a welcome to the participants and the presentation of each. Later, Carmen Alcázar (User:Wotancito), Secretary of Wikimedia Mexico, gave a brief workshop edition to new editors.
It went on to content editing, creating new articles on the central theme of this editatona.
Finally, as an unusual event in this initiative, a round table was held. This was chaired by the collective "Ropa sucia" ("Dirty clothes"). The topic of discussion was the experiences of harassment and sexism that women have suffered in the field of literature. Many of the comments were focused on the fact that sexism in the field of literature has to do with society and the system that predisposes both men and women adopt that behavior, so that many women feel guilty for triumph in a field dominated by men.
Also, a proposal for the creation of a network in which participants can help each other was discussed.
Workshop for Dutch WW2 underground newspapers; Project Netherlands and the world; A report on the Iconclass expert Meeting
Workshop for Dutch WW2 underground newspapers
On 16th September and 7th October the National Library of the Netherlands (KB) hosted two workshops (page in Dutch) for both new and experienced Wikipedians who are working on a project to describe all Dutch underground resistance newspapers from WW2 (page in Dutch) on Dutch Wikipedia.
Seven persons took part. Before lunch Olaf Janssen from the KB gave an introduction to the project, followed by a general introduction to Wikipedia for new Wikipedians. After the lunch break, the participants went hands-on and created and improved articles and stubs about the illegal newspapers.

- Newly created articles for underground newspapers from Utrecht-Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Bergen, Helmond and Venray

Project Netherlands and the world
In august and september there have been several requests from Wikipedians around the world who were interested in the historic relation between the Netherlands and other parts of the world. We are now talking with different cultural organizations about donations to Wikipedia from their collections in reaction to these requests. More requests are welcome!
In July it was announced that The Dutch knowledge center for digital heritage has given Wikimedia Nederland a grant of € 16.000. This grant is for the development of an online platform to share digital heritage with the international Wikimedia movement. This platform is an exchange platform between the Wikipedia movement and GLAM institutions where supply and demand come together. These coming months the platform will be built and the expectation is that it will be completed in december.
Iconclass Expert Meeting September 22-23

I attended the first Iconclass Expert Meeting since 1989. It was held in the RKD in The Hague, and iconclass experts were in attendance from the Netherlands, US, UK, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, and Chili. Representing the founding father of Iconclass, Henri van de Waal, were Etienne Posthumous (who created the online Iconclass browser, making international collaboration much easier) and Hans Brandhorst (the only attendee who attended the last meeting in 1989). An iconclass expert was loosely defined as someone interested enough in the challenges of cataloging iconography to want to hit the edit button in the iconclass browser - sound familiar?
Most attendees presented on their various subjects of interest, and I presented some of the work done on importing iconclass codes into Wikidata items for Rijksmuseum paintings. There is great work being done by various atttendees on systematically creating iconclass codes for their areas of expertise. For example, the art historical discussions between Portugal and Brazil in iconclass circles are very much like the edit wars Portuguese and Brazilian Wiki(p/m)edians have. It turns out much of these disputes are based on incorrect assumptions about local interpretations of religious concepts. Much work has been done to create iconclass concepts for local saints and traditions that are echoed in centuries-old iconography in local art. Similar work has been done in Poland and all groups have tried to partner with student populations to do the much needed work of cataloging and assigning codes.
Both the Rijksmuseum and the Marburg bildindex have made the hard work of cataloging imagery into something of a science with planning mechanisms that time how long it takes to assign 3 iconclass codes to a catalog object in their database. Happily for us, everyone links out to Wikipedia when they can't find the proper code in iconclass. When I showed how it was possible to add iconclass codes to Wikidata painting objects, I received a lot of requests to have Wikidata items for prints. We already have items for prints that have Wikipedia articles, but those prints are rarely specific to one collection (unlike paintings, that are unique objects). We may eventually start a "Sum of all Prints" project, but next up would be a "Sum of all Photos" project and eventually we may have people insisting each Commons image deserves its own Wikidata item, though this could be a one-to-many relationship the way we have hundreds of images of the Mona Lisa.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with many claiming interest in an iconclass user's group to be based on an email group. Reem Weda is the product manager at the RKD responsible for the Dutch version of the Art and Architecture Thesaurus and since so many concepts of the AAT overlap with Iconclass, it is logical that he be the local contact for Iconclass as well. He organized the meeting and is hoping to lobby internally to have more objects in the RKDimages database enriched with iconclass codes. As the formal owner of the Iconclass body of knowledge, it makes sense that the RKD should embrace it in their own online databases. Most iconclass codes in their images database come today from Rijksmuseum prints and paintings and individual RKD researchers however. Using the tips from Marburg and Amsterdam the RKD hopes to speed up the process using their developed "copy paste" methods for similar artworks. Wikidata would benefit as well from a similar "copy paste" method to add iconography standards to copies of artworks for which others have already typed in dozens of tags, whether it's on Wikidata, Wikipedia, or Commons.

As part of Wiki Loves Monuments 2016 we organized a two weeks online editing contest in the first half of September. There were 10 participants and a total of 152 new articles were written. The jury for the photo contest are working on selecting the best photos. 1000 photos were uploaded as part of Wiki Loves Monuments.

Content donation by an art photograph Maja Stošić
Saved from oblivion
An art photographer Maja Stošić donated to Wikimedia Commons 33 remarkable photos of traditional craftsmen, from her author's collection Saved from oblivion. The photos were taken over a period of a year and a half, when Maja toured the villages and towns of Serbia looking for the remaining artists of traditional crafts.
Maja Stosic is a member of the Photo Association of Serbia and an award-winning author. She won a Certificate of Appreciation at this year's competition Wiki Loves Earth - Serbia for the image of the frozen waterfall. A few months later, we contact her with a proposal for releasing entire collection “Saved from oblivion” for Wiki projects.
She said: "... Education is the main objective of this collection, so the world's largest knowledge base - Wikipedia is a natural place for these photos".
Editors of the Serbian Wikipedia have already started to illustrate articles about the old crafts with these photographs, and we believe it will be useful for Wikipedias in other languages.

We have carried out two Wiki Takes activities; the first one on the occassion of the International Paella Contest in Sueca (Valencia). The initiative goal was to document photographically the elements related to the contest, from the process of cooking paella to the final decision of the jury, and then upload the pictures to Wikimedia Commons. Also, we took pictures of the city, in this case the highlights.
The second one on the occasion of the 4th Wikimedia Spain Conference, held for three days at the Museum Pablo Gargallo, in Zaragoza. The first day we focused on free knowledge, software and data, with the participation of several local groups. The second day we attended the presentation of four projects by Amical Wikimedia, Basque Wikimedians User Group, OpenStreetMap Spain and Wikimedia Spain, ending the day with our VI General Assembly.
Finally, the third day, we celebrated a Wiki Takes Caesaraugusta, through which we visited and took pictures of four Roman Museums in Zaragoza: the Museum of the Theater, the Museum of Public Thermae, the Museum of the Forum and the Museum of the River Port.

Wiki Loves Monuments
In September, we organized a new edition of Wiki Loves Monuments contest. As in the previous edition, we focused on the monuments and municipalities without previous picture on Commons and the amount of images obtained in Spain is over 9,000.
A month full of projects
Royal Library of Sweden initiates the first Wikipedia training of library staff in Sweden
In partnership with the Royal Library of Sweden, Wikimedia Sverige is offering the first organized series of Wikipedia training sessions specifically customized for library staff. Three sessions are given between September and November 2016 and participation is already full. Outcomes from the first session was the set up of Citation Hunt in Swedish and also a discussion on the kinds of needs that participants have when it comes to explaining Wikipedia to others. The themes of these discussions were Accuracy and reliability, Libraries in Sweden and Wikipedia, and statistics of use and the Wikipedia community, all of these are publicly shared in a blog post in Swedish.

Citation hunt in Swedish
During a Wikipedia workshop for librarians September 28 the Citation hunt tool was translated, adopted and set up for use on Swedish language Wikipedia. As a preparation for participation in the #1lib1ref campaign in January librarians are trained in using Wikipedia and adding citations to articles.
Connected Open Heritage
As part of getting new cultural heritage data from countries who are not already in the WLm database John and André went to Georgia for some high level meetings with government officials and other staff from heritage related organisations. There are still some leads to follow up and things to sort out from the meetings, so stay tuned for more reports. Preparations are also taking place for some more image uploads, among them a travel journal with images from Mexico and some others from excavations on Cyprus that the Museum of World Culture has agreed to release. Wikimedia Italia is also preparing the photo exhibition that is one of the parts of the project aimed to raise awareness among the public for the awesome work done by volunteers and others in documenting and high lighting the cultural heritage.
World Wide Wikipedia
The World Wide Wikipedia tour restarted after the summer with a two day event at the Museum of World Culture. One day with presentations and speakers talking about both Wikipedia and other projects started by the National Heritage Board, and one day of learning the basics of editing and also getting some edits done. The first day there were 15 participants and during the workshop the 9 participants both created new, translated and improved articles and got around to uploading images to Wikimedia Commons. The next stop for the tour is in Malmö in the beginning of December.
Wikipedia at the Göteborg Book fair
Following an eleven year long tradition there were a bunch of Wikipedians present at the Göteborg Book fair to both talk about Wikipedia and to take new images of the authors, celebrities, journalists, politicians and other relevant visitors attending the fair. A total of 17 Wikipedians helped with the outreach and input activities during the four days the fair lasts.

Writing Week Around Content Donation
Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi History and Ethnography Reserve
Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi is an ancient city in the Kiev Oblast (province) of central Ukraine, located some 59.03 mi south of the nation's capital Kiev. Until 1943, the city was known as Pereyaslav. With its current estimated population around 30,000, and over 20 museums, Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi is often described as a "living museum" and was granted the status of a History and Ethnography Reserve. In Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky there is the biggest number of museums comparing to any of Ukrainian towns. The biggest is the Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life in Central Naddnipryanschina, an open-air museum, that occupies 25 hectares.
At the beginning of 2016, Reserve`s administration replied to the Wikimedia Ukraine initiative to publish materials about the museums under the free licence. As the result in the category GLAM Ukraine - National Historic-Ethnographic Reserve "Pereyaslav" one can enjoy 300 photos of museums` exteriors and interiors, and information on 60 architecture objects.
Thematic Week in Ukrainian Wikipedia
Though Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi History and Ethnography Reserve has many significant landmarks, few of them were covered on Wikipedia. Single Topic Writing Week dedicated to the Reserve removed that gap. During September, 24-30, 19 articles were added and 11 improved, grounding on donated materials. There were also contributions to Wikidata, Wikisource and Wikimedia Commons. Progress can be tracked on Week`s page in Ukrainian Wikipedia.
