Required stepsEdit

Overview

This section will guide you through setting up a project template using the WPBannerMeta template and its associated sub pages. This process will create the template Project GLAMNAME, a shortcut to the template WPGLAMABBR, and the default set of categories required to organize articles associated with your project by quality and importance.

These steps are the minimum steps required to enable project participants to begin associating articles with your project.

Create templateEdit

  Make a new template page

  • Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:WPBannerMeta and follow the prompts! Or...
  • SEARCH for Template:WikiProject GLAMNAME.
  • On the Search Results page, click the red link to create Template:WikiProject GLAMNAME
  • Paste this text into the text edit box
{{WPBM
|PROJECT            = GLAMNAME
  |PROJECT_NAME      = GLAMNAME project
  |PROJECT_LINK      = Wikipedia:GLAM/GLAMNAME
|substcheck=<includeonly></includeonly>
|small={}
|category={}
|listas={}
|IMAGE_LEFT          = FILENAME.jpg
|IMAGE_LEFT_SMALL   = 50px

|QUALITY_SCALE=
|class={}
|importance={}
|ASSESSMENT_CAT      = GLAMNAME-related articles
|ASSESSMENT_LINK     =
|MAIN_TEXT = This {{pagetype|{}}} is related to the GLAMNAME. Please copy quality assessments of the article from the most major WikiProject template to this one as needed, and assign importance in accordance with the project's guidelines.
|MAIN_CAT            =

|MAIN_ARTICLE     = GLAMNAME
}}<noinclude>
documentation

</noinclude>

Overview

The default project setup process uses a catmore template to create this text at the top of every category in your project:

For more information, see Wikipedia:GLAM/GLAMABBR.

You may choose to replace this line with a custom information header. Example:

This category contains articles related to the GLAMNAME. Articles are automatically added to this category by placing the WikiProject GLAMNAME project banner template, or its short cut WPGLAMABBR, on the article's Talk page. For more information, see Wikipedia:GLAM/GLAMABBR.

  Create an informational category header

  • Copy this text and update it to suit your project.

  • Open each of your project categories in turn.
  • Click Edit to update the page.
  • Replace the text .... with your new text.
  • Preview and Save your changes.
