Selection of schools for the Pune pilot
This page aims at coordinating the selection of schools for the Pune pilot.
Selection criteria
editGeneral direction:
- Universities / institutes with a high reputation. Once some of those institutions sign up, others will be more likely to follow. This is of particular importance for a first pilot.
- Schools that focus on teaching. We assume that those institutions have a above-average interest in experimenting with an innovative teaching method.
- Communication/media departments. This is based on the fact that journalism / communications / media students are interested in learning more about how Wikipedia works.
- Departments/programs focused on writing skills. Classes that put primary focus on improving students' writing and research skills – such as freshmen writing, technical writing, and library science courses – are more likely to be interested in Wikipedia-editing assignments.
- Departments in topic areas that are underdeveloped on Wikipedia. This will offer more opportunities for students to create new articles and improve existing ones.
India specific:
- Schools that offer programs in Indian languages. One of our goals will be to grow the content of Indian language Wikipedias.
