Let's Connect – sharing Wikidata knowledge with Wiki Loves organizers and enthusiasts
Wikimedia Sverige has been working with Wikidata for a long time, and a lot of our work has focused on topics relevant to the Wiki Loves competitions, such as cultural heritage and protected nature around the world. This fall, we are sharing our experiences and helping others start contributing to Wikidata by participating in the Let's Connect peer learning program.
So far, we've had two learning clinics, organized together with Wikimedia Uganda, the recordings of which you can look at:
- In Session 1, we gave an introduction to Wikidata and SPARQL, with particular focus on cultural heritage data.
- In Session 2, we gave an overview of some useful tools that make using and contributing to Wikidata easier, such as Listeria and Petscan.
In the Let's Connect calendar you can find more information about these sessions, including the slides and Etherpad notes.
On November 9, it's time for the final session in the series, where we'll give an introduction to OpenRefine, a powerful data-wrangling tool that you can use to edit or upload large amounts of data to Wikidata. Something that can come in handy if you're organizing a competition like Wiki Loves Earth or Wiki Loves Monuments!
