we change the requirements from having the email adress optional, to having to retype the email adress. If the new users forget the password, it will now be easier to send them the password
we should give a couple of reasons here why you should create an account, not warn them about all the wrong things they could do

Have an interactive Tutorial in order to help users feel more confident about what they are doing so they don't find the Wikicode daunting when they go to edit.

send welcome email to new users, with focus on inspiration and being part of community,
send ”we miss you” email to inactive users
Please educate new users on the username policy, as some users who are opening accounts under the Outreach initiative are finding their usernames blocked purely because they are not adhering to the username policies. A few new users who created accounts using company names were blocked, leading me here to leave a suggestion.
