Training at the General Archive of the Palace
On 22th, 24th and 29th October, Wikimedia España held a training for 11 people from the General Archive of the Palace staff. During the sessions, we went in depth into the functioning and the possibilities offered to institutions by projects such as Wikipedia and Wikidata. Two of the sessions were online and dedicated to Wikidata, while the third session, held on-site at the Royal Palace, focused on Wikipedia.
Women Writers' Day Edit-a-thon
On 14 October, the National Library of Spain (BNE) successfully celebrated the 9th edition of Women Writers' Day. This annual event paid tribute to women authors from the rural world under the inspiring slogan ‘The periphery of the periphery: Women who looked at the rural world’. The celebration was organised in collaboration with the Federación Española de Mujeres Directivas, Ejecutivas, Profesionales y Empresarias (FEDEPE) and the Asociación Clásicas y Modernas, with the special participation of Wikimedia España in the organisation of an Edit-a-thon.
During the day of the event, 12 people participated and managed to edit 18 articles, all of them newly created. The main objective of this collaborative effort is to increase the visibility of women writers on the internet and to reduce the gender gap in the online representation of the history of literature.
