Talk:Wikipedia Ambassador Program

Seems like GLAM/Ambassadors & Interns should be linked and described here. But I'm not feeling very bold -- maybe there's a reason others have held off? -Pete (talk) 17:34, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Be bold, Pete. :) I think it's not there because nobody's thought of it yet. --Ldavis (talk) 17:50, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
LiAnna telling Pete to "be bold"... I love it! You're one of us now, LiAnna.--~~~

GLAM Ambassadors

edit

Being unfamiliar with the history of the GLAM program, what do GLAM folk think about this GLAM Ambassador role? Right now most of the librarians I'm talking to are affiliated with campuses so campus ambassadorship fits, but to be honest their skills and community are more consistent with galleries, archives and museums. I'd appreciate any thoughts here soon since I'm in communication with California library folk and it'd be great to guide them through the GLAM Ambassador role if that's more appropriate. Author Ambassadors

edit

I came across en:distributed operating system today and was pleasantly surprised, given the generally hopeless state of advanced computing articles. As I said on the talk page there, it is a really well written article on an advanced topic, by a user who wrote it, then "just disappeared". The author used his real world name for his account, and I saw that he has written a book on the subject.

So perhaps the outreach or Ambassador program can contact authors by email and get them to contribute an article or two from books they have written. They will need an assistant of some type too get them started, but they already have the text, so it will not be a major effort for them.

Should Wikipedia_Ambassador_Program get an "Author Ambassador" system as well? If it works, it may well generate the high quality content needed for advanced topics. History2007 (talk) 01:34, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Whitelisting IP addresses

edit

Hi. In response to a request from a GLAM organizer, I've gathered information on how to request an IP whitelisting for outreach events to override the IP cap. The page is meta:How to request lift of an IP cap. I wanted to let you guys know about it and ask that, if you think it appropriate, you add it to any relevant organizational pages here so that people who need this done know how to do it. :) --Mdennis (WMF) (talk) 15:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
