María Cruz (WMAR)
Hi, my name is María, I was born on September 15, 1986 in Mendoza, Argentina and I have lived in Buenos Aires since 1992.
My relationship with Wikimedia
editOn April 2013, I started to work as Communications Coordinator for Wikimedia Argentina, the national chapter of Wikimedia Foundation in my country. I had no idea Wikimedia had so many projects. My contributions are only just starting, because I never dared edit Wikipedia before, let alone all the other wikis. I usually collaborate translating guidelines, descriptive articles and writing reports and entries for Wikimedia's blog. I also upload photos, pdfs, posters, flyers and interviews to Commons.
Why Outreach
editI do believe that a lot of what we do in the movement around the world is strongly appealing to cultural and education institutions everywhere. We share the same values and work for the same aims. However, I don't think the big potential Wikimedia's project have is extended enough. We need to build more bridges. That is why Outreach initiatives are always interesting to me. I started collaborating with "This Month in GLAM" with a story about a special photo archive, and hope to continue contributing in the future. Writing is my big passion, I gladly put it in the service of amazing projects.
