“Success must include two things: the development of an individual to his utmost potentiality and a contribution of some kind to one's world.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt, You Learn by Living

About me

I'm a born nomad, who believes in the power of education and the power of communities. I've been working in education since 2006, and have worked in over 20 schools in 7 countries at every level from early childhood to higher education (but my favorite is 3rd grade). I discovered how much I care about effective teacher education while training teachers for the Ministry of Education in Malaysia, and discovered how much I care about refugee education while working with UNHCR supported schools in Malaysia and Lebanon. More recently, I've discovered how much I care about effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs, and through my work and volunteer work with various UN agencies and other NGOs have cultivated a deep appreciation for how to plan for educational impact. I hold a BA in International Studies with a focus on Chinese (我会说普通话)and an MA in International Education. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, spoken word poetry, and karaoke.

My work

I lead the Education Team at the Wikimedia Foundation. We work with people in the Wikimedia movement, educational institutions, policy makers, and others to build a generation of multiliterate people that understand how to both consume and contribute to open knowledge, creating a world where knowledge is available and equitable for everyone.
