Layout

So.... what tabs would be good, what tabs are missing/misnamed?

Personally I'm not sure how to differentiate content between when a GLAM-rep wants to come here looking for Wikimedia info, as opposed to when a Wikimedian wants to know more about GLAMs... How should we manage that? Witty lama 10:13, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

the map introduced to the mailing list, was quite interesting. here's the link again: http://olpcmap.net/ beeing able to see where glams are, and where people are who are contributing, will help increasing the visibility. i like your tabs, but i think the way glams are displayed atm could be different. This map should contain all current/past glam partners, plus some sort of fold-out menu, to see what's part of the cooperation (content donation, backstage passes, programs, etc.) those links could be used to link to the cooperation's project pages, so anyone who's interested can get additional information. just a thought. regards, Peter Weis 09:29, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

i've just added Multimedia Content Donation Partners to our Projects & Events section. basically the same list we got on commons already. i thought it would be nice to have it here for increasing visibility. having a similar/same list on both outreach and commons should be beneficial for both communities. here's what i imagine to be useful in addition to the great table we already got. feel free to comment/add/delete:

• add country of origin (by flag or written text)
• add contact details of the parnter if available (name, mail and website should be sufficient)
• add wiki users who established the cooperation (important for feedback, questions, etc. to the user in charge)

Division by geography/type

Withe projects and contacts pages, I'm interested to work out which (or perhaps both) is more useful - a division by geography or a division by type? I.e. should we list all the activities that happened in one continent together, or list all simmilar types of activities that happened together? Witty lama 01:08, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Ambassadors

Given the conversation we're already having on the cultural partnerships mailing list about ambassadors:

What skills should an ambassador have?

What degree of formality need there be?

Should an ambassador undergo a training program (and if so, what should it have)?

Is the differentiation between "local" and "specialist" the correct one?

Ultimately, the point of having such a program, in my opinion, is so that a GLAM can feel confident in getting involved with Wikimedia because they know there is a support/contact network that they can call upon. Will an ambassador system achieve that aim? Witty lama 03:42, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

A degree of formality and a list of approved program participants would be good, especially as the program grows larger and people are assimilated through a multi-stage process, perhaps starting off as Online Ambassadors as in the analogous universities program. But maybe to kick things off, we should just start with the names of trusted/qualified people we already know of on cultural-partners-l?--Pharos 20:06, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Move to WMF hosting?

On our to-do list on the main page it says: "Move to WMF hosting." What is meant by this? That we move off outreachwiki and onto a different site? Perhaps a redirect could do this. Such as bookshelf.wikimedia.org redrects to the bookshelf, glam.wikimedia.org could redirect here. Have I interpreted the original task right? If so, would the redirect be appropriate? This is referring to the "cultural partnerships" mailing list, not a wiki. We already have a good redirect for this page: glamwiki.org (which was originally created for the London GLAM-WIKI conference but is now repurposed here - although I've deliberately not advertised this yet as these pages here are not "ready" for GLAMs to look at) :-) Witty lama 07:52, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Yes, in fact, it is. If you're a GLAM and have decided to get involved in Wikimedia it is not evident where to go to find the right people to contact - especially since in different countries "the right people" will mean different things. The idea is to hopefully have a one-stop-shop for GLAMs to be able to identify their needs and hopefully be able to solve any problems by themselves. If they want assistance or a local contact, then they can find that too. Witty lama 07:52, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Book

Do we want to use the Wikipedia book tool to make the Case studies book? If so, is the tool already available on this wiki or does it need to be imported (or whatever the term is)? -Rock drum (talk · contribs) 10:27, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Eventually, yes probably. It mightn't get to the stage of being needed as a hardcopy of the whole thing, but if it does then we can come to the technical details of how to publish it later. For the moment it's about getting it done :-) Witty lama 11:00, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

I have created an IRC channel on freenode at #wikimedia-glam ^connect. The previously-used channel, #glamwiki ^connect currently redirects to it.
