nice work with the new "newsletter" tab. Please feel free to write to the mailinglist (and to the signpost team?) telling them what you're doing and ask people to 1) assist and 2) add their projects to the list :-) Witty lama 05:43, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all your great work around here! Can you help me in rethinking outreach team? I really want it to be less of a WMF-specific space. You could add yourself for starters. :-)--Eloquence 08:15, 27 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mail lists

edit

Hi RD, have you set up mail lists before? I'm wondering if we could do with a steering committee mail list to discuss Ambassador applications and any other stuff that might not be suitable for the wiki or a wider list. At the moment I don't actually have email addresses for everyone that has put their names up for the steering group so it's slightly tentative and as there are only a handful, we could always do it on an informal basis rather than using listserv. Cheers, -- (talk) 21:00, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's really easy to set up: just go to https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/create and enter the relevant details. Would you like me to set it up or do you or Liam want to? Regards, Rock drum (talk · contribs) 21:13, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
On second thoughts, how about a Google Group as that would be more informal... Rock drum (talk · contribs) 21:17, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yep, that might be a better option to keep a private space for review. I've left a note for Liam, he may already have a vision for how he wanted the group to function. Cheers -- (talk) 21:25, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

edit

unless it's going to be used. Mono (talk) 17:43, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

It's only unused because I recently imported it so few people are aware of their existence. And with all due respect, there's no need to delete un-used templates. It's not like they're slowing down the wiki. Regards, Rock drum (talk · contribs) 17:45, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Main newsletter link?

edit

Hello! I was a little unclear about the organization of the Newsletter. I know we're all still working on it, but now that we're beginning to promote the February edition on Twitter (and we're working on March), I was wondering why the main link to the Newsletter still has Dec/January as the "Current Edition" and how we're linking to the February edition off of that page?
I was going to get started writing the March Indy updates, but the last time I put something on the Suggestions page I felt like it got lost and never used and I was asked to put it someplace else in the end.
I would be bold and do this myself but don't want to mess with the organization that you're already attempting. I also just don't have the time, unfortunately, right now. As such, I don't want my efforts with my March updates wasted.
You can follow me on Twitter @HstryQT. It'd be easy for me to ask quick questions there. Thanks! HstryQT (talk) 12:55, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Lori, sorry about the disjointed publication of this issue. I will try to avoid that happening next time. I assure, you that any additions you make to the suggestions page won't be ignoried this time around. By the way, that addition you made eventually turned up in the current edition's Indianapolis update. If you want to put something up there, I can copy it into this month's Indianapolis update, or if you want, you can do it (don't worry about all the fancy templates and stuff, I'll put them in later). Regards, Rock drum (talk · contribs) 14:00, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick reply (and the twitter note!) I'll be sure to add to the March Indy page you linked to. Thanks! HstryQT (talk) 14:13, 6 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

IRC

edit

Heya, I'm not sure it's necessary to have a whole tab dedicated to the IRC link - especially since it's quite unlikely that any GLAM professional will be using IRC.. I'd recommend merging that into the "contact" tab. Can you do that? Witty lama (talk) 00:51, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

suggestions

edit

Hi, thanks for all of your work in preparing the GLAM newsletter. I have a few suggestions. First, it would be nice if it took up less (vertical) space on the talk page. It's nicely designed, but just a little obtrusive at the moment. One think you might consider is to move the icon to the left side and to nest the "This month in ...Vol..." beside it, to the right. The word report occurs a huge number of times. I think you could drop it completely: we know they're reports, and if we don't we'll soon find out. "Event calendar" is the only thing that needs marking as such ... why not just the country-name? Now I wonder why they're all listed twice, too. Won't the headline link get us there anyway? The header: the italics bump up against the roman colon; I'd be inclined to make the colon italic too. Tony1 (talk) 04:26, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for taking the time to write this. :-) This issue was the first time we'd tried listing the headlines on the message sent to talk pages. Next month I'll only stick those in, rather than the links at the top, too. They should appear in 2 columns for some people, not sure why they're not... The reason the event calendar isn't listed as belonging to a certain country is because it's supposed to encompass all GLAM events in the upcoming month, not just those in a specific country. Also, there aren't any italics... Regards, Rock drum (talk · contribs) 10:18, 3 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Recent removal of rights

edit

Hello. I just wanted to leave a formal note as a follow-up to an e-mail that you might received many hours ago about the removal of your rights from this site. Per a admittedly very brief discussion on the Village pump, multiple users supported cleaning up the list, both on and off the page. My goal of doing this was to get a better count of who was an active administrator, as well as purge the list in a move that is in line with other WMF wikis. However, should you still wish to be an administrator on Outreach, please leave me a message on my talk page, and I will promptly restore your rights as soon as I see the message. Thank you for your contributions to this site, and have a great day. Kevin Rutherford (talk)
