Pinazo Year Edit-a-thon
The National Museum of Ceramics and Decorative Arts "González Martí", located in Valencia, is a museum dedicated to ceramics (with special importance to Valencian ceramics), porcelains and other decorative arts such as textile art, traditional costumes and furniture. Housed in the Palace of the Marqués de Dos Aguas, it was founded on 7 February 1947, from the donation of Manuel González Martí’s ceramics collection. Seven years later, once the restoration of the palace was completed, the museum opened to the public on 18 June 1954. In 1969 the museum increased its collection with numerous pieces of furniture, clothing and paintings with special interest in Valencian tradition and local artists.
Pinazo Year
In 2016, on the occasion of the centenary of the death of the Valencian painter Ignacio Pinazo Camarlench (1849-1916), various commemorative events took place, such as a double exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia and the Bancaja Foundation focused in history and portraiture in the work of the painter. Therefore, as part of this Pinazo Year, we carried out, together with the Museum, an edit-a-thon to generate content around the figure of the Valencian painter and the museum.
Edit-a-thon
The event took place on 17 December 2016 at the Museum, between 10 and 17 hours uninterruptedly. The dissemination was carried out through a press release and social networks and the inscription of the participants was managed by Wikimedia España (WMES) thanks to an online form. Also, a page on Wikipedia was created. Both the list of articles proposed and bibliography, as reliable sources, were provided by the Museum. Although the statistics will be active for a month, so far 10 articles have been edited by 10 participants, some of them new users.
