Libraries of 1602 and 2016, science museum new home for wikimedians
La Città del Sole, a manuscript from 1602
On December 6th, at the City Library of Trento, the digitization of manuscript BCT1-1538, the oldest example of The City of the Sun by Tommaso Campanella, was presented. The manuscript, uploaded to Commons and Wikisource thanks to the collaboration between the library and Wikimedia Italia, was entirely transcribed and formatted during the contest held in occasion of Wikisource thirteenth birthday.
AIB Studi
In the 3rd issue, 2016 of AIB Studi the article Là ci darem la mano... Wikipedia e le biblioteche (in Italian) by Lucia Sardo was published. The paper dealt with the contribution of libraries and librarians to the GLAM project and Wikipedia. AIB Studi is an open-access journal on library and information science.
Wikimedia Italia @ MUSE
On December 10th the MUSE - Science Museum of Trento hosted the second annual assembly of WMI. In Spring 2016, MUSE hosted a Wikipedian in Residence dedicated to a GLAM project with several objectives, including the release of high-resolution images to Commons.
