Wiki Loves Monuments The Netherlands 2013
Since this summer I helped to organise the Dutch edition of Wiki Loves Monuments. This year there was special attention for Municipal Monuments. In the Netherlands next to National Monuments, every municipality can indicate which buildings, statues, bridges in their municipality are monuments. There doesn't excist a National database of these monuments, so we thought collecting this data would be an interesting project for this years Wiki Loves Monuments. This project took us many calls and e-mails to the more than 400 municipalities in The Netherlands to get the lists with Municipal Monuments. We created a page with all those lists, so participants could see which monuments are participating. Now the contest has ended, we hope many new free fotos of these monuments are uploaded to Wiki Commons. To promote participation there have been Wiki Takes in Groningen, Nijmegen, The Hague and at Kasteel de Haar. Special attention this year was there for The Hague, where the Peace Palace celebrates its 100 year anniversary. Participants could follow a photography workshop and a guided tour through the city. On the 12th of October there will be a special Edit-a-thon in The Hague, to create new articles about monuments.
ECNC Photo competition
Although ECNC can not be considered as a GLAM, the photo competition that runs until the 15th of October can be interesting to GLAM's. The idea of the competition came from ECNC and volunteers of Wikimedia Nederland supported it by setting up the upload wizard. One of the goals for Wikimedia Nederland to support this competition is to see if and how we can support initiatives by other organisations that lead to more content on commons and/or other Wikimedia projects.
Fashion edit-a-thon Antwerp
The MoMu fashion museum hosted an Europeana Fashion Edit-a-thon in Antwerp. Around 25 participants worked on articles and a special tour through the museum was given.
The Tropenmuseum is looking for the fourth Dutch Wikipedian in Residence (job description in Dutch) for their project about expeditions.
Wiki loves libraries workshop
BiSC Utrecht, the service organisation for libraries in the province of Utrecht, and Wikimedia Nederland organised a workshop for libraries. The goal of the workshop was to generate ideas for cooperation. The workshop was inspired by the earlier Wiki Loves Bieb project.
10 years Creative Commons
Wikimedia Nederland attended the celebration of 10 years of Creative Commons in the Netherlands. The future of the licenses and their use was being discussed at the event.
