Wiki loves Monuments; Greek & Latin translations; Wikipedians in Residence
The worlds largest international photography competition has kicked off for the fourth time. Dutch volunteers keep on expanding the activities involved with the competition. This year it takes shape in a numbers of local activities, referred to as "Wiki Takes ...", in The Hague, Nijmegen and Groningen. There is also a larger number of monuments involved than ever before. The competition used to focus on national monuments, this year the municipal and provincial monuments are also included. A tool has been developed to generate lists with coordinates of monuments based on their address (example). Coordinates of monuments without a specific address have been added by hand.

Greek & Latin translations
The University of Amsterdam and the VU University Amsterdam organised a the "Summerschool Classics", a week for students, scholars, teachers and others interested in Greek and Latin literature. The participants had translated several epitaphs of 17th century sea heroes. Volunteers of WMNL assisted them with publishing their translations. Wikisource was being used to post the translations, photos were uploaded to Commons and brief descriptions of the graves, the text on the grave and the locations were added to Wikipedia pages.

Wikipedians in Residence
The National Library and National Archives of the Netherlands have hired Hay Kranen as the first Dutch Wikipedian in Residence. He will start his work on 7th October and will finish in July 2014. Project information can be found on the Wikipedia page. Two more positions for Wikipedians in Residence will be anounced shortly by the Group of Special Scientific Libraries. A fourth position should be open before the end of the year.
