2022/23 in review ...
2023 was first year with significant Outreach efforts with GLAM and Education work in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Previous online events in pandemic with in 2020 librarians (over 25) and 2021 workshop for school teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina were realized online, focusing on editing Wikipedia and its educational use (5 teachers participated). The activities were realized by @zBlace and @a81t. Thanks to support of Wikimedia CEE Hub and WMF we made regional contacts and started coordination with in-person meeting in Zagreb during the first meeting of CEE Hub that was organized there. Members of the Steering Committee and two executives got a first impressions of problems facing work in the territories without organized professional support as Affiliates only exist in Macedonia, Serbia and Republika Srpska.
2024 is hopefully going to be a year where work is more consolidated, informed and resourced in this aspect.
Workshops at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo
At the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo, Department of Political Science, a lecture and workshop were held and about 50 students participated. They were introduced to Wikimedia as a system and Wikimedia projects, learning to edit Wikipedia through practical workshop. After that, other workshop was realized at the library of the Faculty of Political Sciences for students who were more interested in working with Wikimedia. These activities were realized by @a81t .
Wikipedia Workshop at the International University of Sarajevo, Balkan Studies Center
At the International University of Sarajevo, Balkan Studies Center, a lecture was realized for students, then a practical workshop for Wikipedia editing. Seven students was participated to the lecture and the workshop. The activities were realized by @a81t
Elementary School "Aneks" Sarajevo, training for teachers
Five teachers were introduced to the practical use of Wikimedia projects in the educational process, with editing and uploading to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia. The activities were realized by @a81t
2023 #1Lib#1Ref campaign was organized for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina
For the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the #1Lib#1Ref campaign was organized in collaboration with the Library of University of Sarajevo. A workshop (report) for librarians was held at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. The campaign was successfully completed with our continuous support. About 20 librarians participated in the workshop. The activities were realized by @zBlace and @a81t.
Panel Discussion High School Libraries and Open Science
At the panel discussion "High School Libraries and Open Science", University of Sarajevo, was presented theme "The use of Wikimedia projects in the production and distribution of Open Knowledge". The activity has been realized by @a81t
Workshops "Working with Wikimedia Projects", American Corner Sarajevo
Five workshops "Working with Wikimedia Projects" were held at the American Corner Sarajevo, leading to the idea of forming the Wiki Club, which has not been realized yet. The activities were realized by @a81t.
These activities were covered through social media, bs.Wikipedia, official websites of partner institutions and some news portals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The initiatives started
- We started a partnership with the local Museum in town Visoko which aims to train their staff to present various local topics and improve the visibility of their collections their collections through Wikimedia projects. @a81t
- We started planning work with United World Collage in Mostar in hope of work in the field of arts and culture. @zBlace
- We started communication with the Olympic Museum in Sarajevo and we proposed a possible partnerships. @zBlace
- We made initial contacts with the HUB of Fine Arts in Mostar and their curators. @zBlace
