Second wiki-residents meeting took place in December
Wikimedia CR started to take the work of wiki-residents, participating in partnership activities with GLAM institutions seriously in 2023. As the number of wiki-residents increased, 2 new members in the loop from, National Library, WMCR organised an informal lunch for wiki-residents in October. Number of participants shared their experiences, obstacles and visions for their future work, including the wikidata capacities to share their database content. Meetings of wiki-residents will take place on a regular basis, next one to take place online on Tuesday January 9th, 2024.
Introducing new Program for Partnerships manager Pavel Bednařík
After few years of intense work and service of Eva Vele, WMČR appointed a new Program for Partnerships Manager, Pavel Bednařík. Pavel had been working with Wikimedia ČR since February 2022 as a Chief Trainer. The ambition of higher participation of current employees led to this new shared position. Due to many activities in the educational team of WMCR, he already had been in contact with institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc.
„This is a new level of communication with these institutions, as they must understand, that our partnership could have a completely new dimension. It is not only about one-off events, but a systematic approach and presentation of their preservation, restoration and catalogisation work. We are open to new meaningful partnerships.“
His work includes GLAM projects and activities, support for the Wikidata community and advocacy of free culture of Wikimedia projects.
