The GLAM Wiki Conference, the Conference on Culture, Heritage, and Wikimedia is now accepting submissions for its program. The call for proposals will be open through July, until August 6, at the end of the day (23:59) anywhere in the world. To submit your session, use this form.
The conference will happen from November 16 to 18, 2023, in Montevideo, Uruguay. The gathering plans to be a place for conversations, exchanges, and strategic thinking for both professionals from heritage institutions and people from the Wikimedia movement working on heritage, as well as anyone interested in the intersection between heritage, the free and open movement, and Wikimedia.
To help with the submission, the objectives of the conference are:
Identify strategic priorities for the heritage, open culture, and Wikimedia community for the promotion of equitable knowledge, diversity, and inclusion.
Exchange and build capacity around GLAM Wiki collaborative tools.
Reflect, discuss, and think about new roadmaps for Wikimedia community tools and platforms, in particular in relation to the release of multimedia content.
Reconnect after the pandemic, re-network, and rethink among all the people involved in the future of GLAM Wiki and the community of activists and professionals dedicated to open access to heritage.
We encourage the community to submit interactive proposals that actively involve the participants. The list of volunteers part of the Program Committee and working on selecting the proposals is available on this page. They will make decisions based on criteria that will include relevance to the objectives of the conference, importance and interest in the subject matter by the expected audience, among others. Final decisions will be announced during the month of September.
