Open air, artistic and historical edit-a-thons

Rolli Days edit-a-thon in Genoa

On May 4th the it.wiki community organized an edit-a-thon for Rolli Days, an opening of the most beautiful Renaissance and Baroque style Genoese palaces belonging to the UNESCO heritage.

Ten Wikipedians from different parts of Italy were hosted by the local council and the University of Genoa in one of such palaces, Palazzo Balbi-Senarega, surrounded by the magnificent fresco of "Pace, Joy and and Abundance" by Valerio Castello; since the palace also hosts the library of humanistic subjects of the University, they could take advantage of several book sources to create or expand articles regarding the system of the Palazzi dei Rolli. At the end of the day, 3 articles have been expanded and 14 have been created, dealing about churches, palaces, streets, squares and biographies.

There is still a lot of work to do, and all the participants look forward to repeat the experience. In particular, a collaboration with the students of language studies of the local university could spread these articles also on other linguistic versions of Wikipedia (guess where their department is located? Exactly, a "Palazzo dei Rolli"!); in addition, an itinerary on Wikivoyage could be very useful. The only limits are imagination and will.

Burning imagination edit-a-thon in Milan

On 10th of May history and philosophy universities within Università degli Studi di Milano, together with Wikimedia Italia, AIB, AIPH and the municipality of Milan organized a memorial day to remember the Nazi book burning of 10th may 1933, conducted by the German Student Union. The edit-a-thon was followed by three lectures by Carlo Sini, Laura Boella and Giorgio Montecchi and public reading of a selection of the burnt books.


Visit and edit-a-thon in Lonate Pozzolo

Via Gaggio, a fascinating open air ethnographical museum in Lonate Pozzolo

On the 11th of May members of InFormAzioni association and of Insubria local group took part in the first event of the project Sui passi di Carlo Amoretti which aim is to retrace the tour described by this ancient writer and scientist in a new modern "wiki-way" organizing content creation events.
The first event was in Lonate Pozzolo, we had the opportunity to visit Via Gaggio, a road but also an open air etnographical museum and the Monastero di San Michele, in the afternoon we had a couple of hours to start writing articles about monuments and history.
There is still a lot to do so we already planned a second event there thanks to the collaboration with the municipality and the local Ecomuseo.
