Manaki brothers
Yanaki and Milton Manaki were photography and cinema pioneers who brought the first film camera and creating the first motion pictures on the Balkan Peninsula and in the Ottoman Empire. Their work was done in the city of Manastir (modern Bitola, Republic of Macedonia), an economic and cultural center of Ottoman Rumelia. Yanaki and Milton recorded a number of films, mostly documentaries about various aspects of life in the city of Manastir. Their photography work contains moments of life in Bitola, photos of famous persons of that time, kings, even Turkish Sultan Mehmed V when he come to Bitola (Manastir) in 1911.

In several meetings, there was an agreement between Wikipedian in residence at the State Archives of Republic of Macedonia, and the management of the Archive Department in Bitola, that Bitola Department is going to release at least 50 (fifty) photos from photography work of the Manaki brothers for Wikipedia. There were a few photos (23 total) in the category Manaki Brothers at that moment, when WiR started negotiation with Management of the Archives.
Wikipedian in Residence at DARM managed to get 290 photos out of 6000 photos, as donation from the Archives Bitola Department. All photos were filmed on glass plate. There are many of them which are damaged or broken, but still recognizable what is on the photo. Wikipedian in Residence spent one week in Bitola, in order to get and digitize material. All 290 digitized photos will be uploaded in the next weeks.
All photos are black and white, and highly valuable for Wikimedia projects.

First DARM Challenge
The first DARM Challenge was held from June 15, 2016 till July 15, 2016 23:59 (CET UTC+01:00).
The aim of this challenge was to use 1,027 files uploaded by Wikipedian in Residence in the State Archives of the Republic of Macedonia (DARM) in articles in any language. Prizes for best five contributors were: one bilingual book (Macedonian-English), with total amount of 56.5 Euros, gift from the DARM, and set of books 20 euros each, with total amount of 100 euros, gift from WiR.
For contributors there were clear instructions of what is the aim, Article list and instruction on how to add points. Points were self-reporting and trust-based system. It was participants' responsibility to record their actions. Each participant's goal was to gain as many points as possible.

Wikimedian-in-Residence at MANU
Academicians of MANU Project
Academicians of MANU (Проект „Академици на МАНУ“) is a project that has been going on for the duration of this month and will continue in future. The Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU), where our WiR is based, has been the home of the most distinguished scientists, artists, writers and researches of Macedonia for nearly 50 years. Among the activities for the marking of the fiftieth anniversary of the foundation of MANU is establishment of the new web-site for which our WiR is assigned for gathering data and information for the biographies of all members of MANU. By that our WiR has unprecedented access to their biographies and words, resulting in systematic coverage of those notable personalities in an organised project on the Macedonian Wikipedia.
So far, during this month, we covered 25 academicians, out of which 15 articles were created from scratch and 10 were substantially improved. Apart from this, during the month of July, the WiR in MANU scanned two books with 196 pages in total. One of the them is the important Rivers in Macedonia, while the other one is about the Rice in Kochani, a famous and strategic agricultural crop for that region of the country. Both books are largely used for editing articles and reference scientific material for the ongoing field research projects of the Shared Knowlegde on the Macedonian Wikipedia, such as the current Wikiexpeditions, and soon to be launched Agroexpeditions.
