Fifty article milestone
Khalili Foundation
The Khalili Foundation was mentioned in the Wikimedia UK annual awards, announced on 26 November. The Best Partnership award gave an honourable mention jointly to the Khalili Foundation for sharing images and data about Islamic art, and for Dr Glaire Anderson of the University of Edinburgh for using these materials in her courses about the art and architecture of the Caliphal era. As well as promoting the cultural diversity of Wikipedia, the Khalili Foundation/ Wikimedia partnership has been improving articles about cultural diversity itself. Cultural diversity, now having been substantially rewritten, has now been submitted for open peer review. This is a process in English Wikipedia in which a volunteer reviews the article with a view to helping prepare it for a quality badge such as Good Article. This is an open, public process in which comments from anyone in the community are welcome. After some tweaks to the Musa va 'Uj article, it has been put up for Good Article review.
The article about the Empire of the Sultans exhibition has been fact-checked, published, and submitted to Did You Know review, becoming the 50th new Wikipedia article created by this project. The next article, being worked on in draft, is about the Heaven on Earth: Art from Islamic Lands exhibition. In past months I assembled image galleries of objects that were shown in these exhibitions; this month I have been using them to illustrate the Wikipedia articles.

The Arabic Wikipedia gave the Anatolian war mask a Featured Image award and posted it on the main page as Picture Of The Day on 29 November. This is the ninth image from the Khalili Collections to be given this award by Arabic Wikipedia. Persian Wikipedia ran an image from the Anis al-Hujjaj on the front page as its Picture Of The Day on 2 December.
The DYK for Gulshan-i 'Ishq ran on 19 November for 24 hours on the front page of English Wikipedia. This is the third DYK from this project this year, and the 24th from the project in total. There were 4.77 million visitors to the front page on that day, who will have seen the thumbnail image. 5,536 clicked through to the article.
The Wikipedians of the Islamic Civilization User Group hosted a webinar about the Khalili Collections. We had an 80-minute presentation and discussion about the two Islam-related collections and their representation on the Wikimedia platforms, with simultaneous translation for Arabic and English. A video of my initial half-hour presentation has been released on YouTube in English and in Arabic.
There were no new image uploads or translations this month. GLAMorgan reports 5,584,000 image views in November.
