Swiss GLAM Programme
Mind the gap
Curatorial practice is changing and corresponding the demandings of transforming societies. We produced the video Mind the gap to discuss and think on ways of curatorial practice within the wiki movement. Therefore an archive leader in Berne, an archivist in Biel/Bienne and a curator in Zurich have been interviewed. Parallel a programme started to include more women on wiki called Mind the gap. The aim is to include marginalized knowledge and share perspectives that have not been that present yet. Gaps do not only depend on gender but also on age, culture and wealth.
Digital Archiving of Performing Arts
While traditional theatre productions have the process od documentation in their agenda with free performance art this is much more difficult. On one hand the budgets are precarious and on the other hand quite often they are just performed once without knowing whether and what kind of archiving is suitable. In Switzerland we cooperate with the Panch network, that aims to document the free performing art scene. Chris Regn, who is in the board, presented the idea behind it and showed ways how to interact and partcipate. With this project at the KBCB a new editor was introduced who now contributes regulary.
Winterthur City Library
In Winterthur there was an Atelier with an introduction with all the possibilities provided by the library. There is an Audio and Greenbox Studio, a workshop for all different tools including 3D-Printers, Facilities for playgrounds with automatization and many more tools for citizens of all ages. Material from the collections has been digitized and uploaded by the library for open knowledge on commons and can be used. Images show the history of the city as well as several scientific collections and graphics of insects. The wiki-series "Atelier" takes place since 10 years and was developed by User:Hadi in order to go into different GLAM institutions writing about their collections and archives. Here are some articles from that day: Jeannine Fontanive, Aurelia Favre, Sammlung Winterthur.
