Redirects edit

I see you've been deleting a lot of redirects. Are you certain those pages aren't linked from other wikis? It's no big deal to have some spare redirects lying around.--Sage Ross (talk) 21:06, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Those pages were created and then renamed multiple times in a short period leaving a number of double and broken redirects. There were no local links to them and the number of levels of redirect was not very usefull. I doubt there was content at the original page names long enough for outside links to have been created. But let me know if you'd like them undeleted. --mikeu talk 21:56, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
Cool. I was just wondering. --72.77.0.156 22:19, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Bot approval edit

Hi Mike, Just a quick message to let you know that I've approved your bot and given it the flag etc. Regards, Rock drum (talk · contribs) 20:09, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Very cool, thanks. I've been rather busy with work lately, but I'll take a look at things soon. --mikeu talk 20:40, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Revdel edit

I don't see anything like private personal data in the edits you revdeleted with said rationale. Can you shed light on the mismatch? Nemo 19:10, 7 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've seen a lot of cross wiki edits with info that looks like some kind of license number, occupation, and address in a string of nonsense. It is difficult to tell what it is given that the info is so jumbled. The pulldown reason I selected was the closest match. The edits go back to at least Oct. I've requested a steward to look at it. It is possible that this is all just gibberish, but it could also pose a risk of identity theft if any of the info mixed in with the spelling errors is real. The string "melquan,a,khalijah" is used often, but with various job titles such as US Army ranks mixed in. The ip has been jumping from wiki to wiki to avoid blocks for months. I've shortened the duration of the block. If it turns out to be nothing I'll undo the revdeletes, but I thought it best to hide them for now. Others have also hid these revisions.[1] --mikeu talk 22:37, 7 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
The account is now globally blocked. I've removed the local block as it is redundant. --mikeu talk 15:37, 8 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Update: on 22 May 2017 the same IP 68.153.113.200 inserted gibberish into my talk archive of this discussion. [2] The global block apparently expired in April followed by cross-wiki vandalism on meta and commons.[3] --mikeu talk 18:11, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

De-sysopping edit

Per Wikimedia:Inactivity policy, your account is due for having advanced user rights removed. If you would like to retain these user rights, please post a message on this talk page and use {{Ping}} to alert me. Note that this message is being sent to several users who are in the same situation and many have never used administrator tools. In the past, community standards were more lax about who received adminship or bureaucratship and between this policy and a further solicitation of consensus, we are reigning in some of the requirements for advanced user rights. You will also be receiving an email from me if you have it enabled. Koavf (talk) 21:28, 13 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Koavf: I would like to retain the user rights. I hope to become more active when my health improves. --mikeu talk 01:02, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I hope you're well, M. Koavf (talk) 17:33, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia:Inactivity policy edit

Per our inactivity policy, you are subject to having your advanced user rights removed. If you are interested in keeping them, you must respond here with {{Ping|Koavf}} and explain that you'd like to keep them. If the rights are removed and you want to get them back later, you will have to lodge a formal request. Thank you. Koavf (talk) 08:34, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Koavf: I've recently resumed activity on a couple of wikis including wp and wv after a period of inactivity. I haven't edit here recently but I have been watching recent changes and I'm following updates to pages. I'd like to keep the user rights. --mikeu talk 13:09, 11 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
