De-sysoppingEdit

Per Wikimedia:Inactivity policy, your account is due for having advanced user rights removed. If you would like to retain these user rights, please post a message on this talk page and use {{Ping}} to alert me. Note that this message is being sent to several users who are in the same situation and many have never used administrator tools. In the past, community standards were more lax about who received adminship or bureaucratship and between this policy and a further solicitation of consensus, we are reigning in some of the requirements for advanced user rights. You will also be receiving an email from me if you have it enabled. Koavf (talk) 21:28, 13 August 2017 (UTC)

@Koavf: Hi, thanks for the heads-up. Yes I would like to retain these rights. I will endeavour to be more active here in the near future. Much thanks. Quiddity (talk) 04:41, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
No problem--I've seen you work on other WMF wikis and so you just do what you need to do in the WikiSphere. Koavf (talk) 17:31, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Soft protection on user and user talk pageEdit

Hi. If you have a look at the AF log, you will see one of our precious LTAs trying to tag my user talk pages, and this is happening crosswiki. Would you mind putting soft protection on both my user and user talk pages for the longer term period. I am not particularly active here beyond spam and abuse removal, so it should not be problematic. Thanks, if you can. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:44, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Of course :-) Quiddity (talk) 22:47, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

Sortable tables at NavWiki/External ResourcesEdit

Thank you. I thought that there was a way to do that but I didn't have time yesterday to look into it. ↠Pine () 21:41, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Possible removal of user rightsEdit

Per this Village pump thread and our Wikimedia:Inactivity policy, you are subject to having your advanced user rights removed. If you are interested in keeping them, you must respond here within 30 days using {{Ping|Koavf}} and explain that you'd like to keep them. If the rights are removed and you want to get them back later, you will have to lodge a formal request. Thank you. Koavf (talk) 07:46, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

@Koavf: Hallo! Yes, I'd like to retain the rights, please. (I glance in occasionally wanting to help, but the urgent requests are usually clear and any recent vandalism has already been reverted!) Thanks. Quiddity (talk) 05:07, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered usersEdit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
