342 photos donated by professional photographer Darko Cvetanoski
Darko Cvetanoski (User:Darkocv), a professional photographer for the "Utrinski Vesnik" newspaper as well as several other web sites, portals and news agencies, decided to enrich Wikimedia Commons with pictures donated from his abundant collection. So far, he has uploaded 342 high quality images of dozen of villages, churches, monuments and landscapes from the region of Malesija which is one of the most remote mountainous areas in the westernmost part of Macedonia. Hence, he has made valuable contribution with covering one of the less populated and remote regions, which is difficult to visit on regular basis. The fruitful cooperation with Darko, will definitely continue in the future.
Wikimedian-in-Residence at MANU
Although the annual project have finished by the end of September, due to the abundant work on the projects in November, Wikimedian-in-Residence have made significant valuable contributions for support of the projects such as Wikiexpeditions and Archaeoexpedition by scanning and uploading the entire book Encyclopedia of the villages in the Republic of Macedonia on 315 pages in total which will be used for editing articles for all settlements in Macedonia on Wikipedia as well by uploading rare sketches and plans of the archaeological site of Golemo Gradiste, supposedly of ancient Roman city of Tranupara, visited in October.
Wikipedian-in-Residence at DARM
25th of December 2016 was starting day of writing challenge called DARM Challenge 2. Wikipedian in Residence at DARM (National Archive of the Republic of Macedonia) is active from 4th of January 2016. In the collaboration with the State Archive we have 2,190 files uploaded till now, and the number continue to grow. The aim of this challenge is to use these files in articles in any language. In the first week, we have 14 participants from 8 countries, and more than 22 new articles. The usage of images is: 25.06% distinct images, and 1158 total images are already used in articles. Closing day of this challenge is 25th of January 2017. We hope that the percentage of used images will grow, together with new created articles.
