Your story on Wikimedia Education Newsletter =) edit

Hi Anna!
We are wrapping up the newsletter, and I saw you started a story that looks really interesting  .
I was wondering if you would like to finish that post, or if you prefer to keep it for next issue. Please let me know.
Thank you for engaging in this way and for being awesome, MCruz (WMF) (talk) 17:48, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear María,
Yes! I definitely plan on completing this newsletter post. Thanks for reminding me.
What time is the final draft due today? Your message to the Education-l mailing list didn't indicate what time and time zone.
Warmest regards to you still and always, Msannakoval (talk) 20:14, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dear Floor and María,
My draft article about the historic data campaign is in the newsroom on Outreach wiki now:
https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Education/Newsletter/Newsroom#Education_Program_Historic_Data_Campaign
Please review the content and revise the messaging as you deem appropriate.
Thank you, Floor, for allowing me to continue to participate in this project. It's truly an honor.
Thank you, Maria, for leading up the publication of the newsletter. I'm on the newsletter publication team, so please let me know how I can help.
All my best to you both, Msannakoval (talk) 17:55, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

New issue of Wikimedia Education Program Newsletter - Invitation to edit edit

Hi Anna, we are now preparing to wrap up a new issue of our beloved newsletter!   As you are volunteering as a content leader, I wanted to ask if you would like to engage in editing the existing stories. Most of the content is written and we need volunteers to review it before publishing, for typos, good grammar and other changes needed. Would you like to engage in this way? I have also asked Christian if she wants to contribute in this way. You two could split the stories and work through them together. Ideally, we would have the content reviewed by Wednesday, February 24 at 12 (PST).
Let me know as soon as you are able. Thanks, María (WMF) (talk) 00:48, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear María (WMF),
I am happy to help copyedit and format the contents of the newsroom for the next edition of the education newsletter. Thanks for including me.
I added the "see also" links in the customary format to each of the article drafts.
I copyedited and formatted the article from Sweden, the article from Taiwan, the article about Nigeria, and my article about the historic data campaign.
I also formatted photos and added program logos. We haven't added logos in past issues, but I think it helps pace the articles geographically, since the titles don't always call out their location. The logos add pops of color to the pageand help readers scan the issue. The logos also reinforce program branding and underscore the reach and diversity of the global education program.
I wrote to User:Shangkuanlc about the redlinked username in the article from Taiwan. See my note to him here.
I wrote to Melina about the length of the article about the hackathon. It is really awesome but very long -- at least 3 times as long as all of the other articles. It's great content, and we should definitely include it. But just a much shorter summary of it. I recommended that she create a subpage of Education/Countries/Argentina and link to that subpage in the shorter summary newsletter article. See my note to her here.
Hope this helps. Happy to do more after hearing what Christian wishes to work on. Msannakoval (talk) 17:04, 20 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dearest Anna,
Thank you for doing such a great work on this new issue, and so promptly, too!
It's a good call on WMAR article; I was thinking back and forth how to work on it.
I will continue this editorial work with Christian now. Looking forward to publishing and distributing this newsletter next week! María (WMF) (talk) 16:21, 22 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Msannakoval: Dear Anna, I have just finished to edit the lenght of the article. I proposed it as a post in the WF´s blog but nobody published it. I´ll take care about your recommendations. Thanks!Melina Masnatta (WMAR) (talk) 15:52, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Because of the delay from our end, we have pushed the last day for submission to the 25th. Hope that is fine for you. We have some interesting stories and it would be really great if you can spare some time to review them before publishing, for typos, good grammar and other changes needed. Would you like to engage in this way? I have also asked Christian if she wants to contribute in this way. You two could split the stories and work through them together. Can we hope to have the content reviewed by next Friday, May 27 at 12 (PST) so that the Publication Leader and the Distribution Leader could start working. If you can spare time before the deadline, there is nothing like that. Thanks much in advance for the great support! --SPanigrahi (WMF) (talk) 20:00, 20 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Subha, Thanks for the invitation to edit the new education newsletter content. I'm happy to help out with that.   There are 7 articles and 0 articles of interest in other publications. This can easily be edited by Friday, May 27. Did you mean noon or midnight PST? Probably 12 means noon on the 24-hour clock. Just confirming. I can begin this later today after I'm done teaching. All the best, Msannakoval (talk) 11:57, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Anna, thanks for confirming about helping with the review. Apologies for not mentioning the time correctly. I actually meant 12 in the midnight. But if you manage to spare time to finish before that, there is nothing like that. I am updating the articles of interest today. In the mean time you can review the articles submitted by the program leaders. Hope you are enjoying your teaching, all the best with that. Hugs! :) --SPanigrahi (WMF) (talk) 14:29, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Anna, as you might have already seen, we have got 14 stories so far by last night. The deadline is over and we have two days for the review and copyediting. It is bit tight for you and my sincere apologies that getting all of these stories took longer than we expected. Do let me know how today and tomorrow look like for you, and if you will be possible for you to finish the copyediting by tomorrow. Thanks you so much again! :) --SPanigrahi (WMF) (talk) 15:25, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi SPanigrahi (WMF), Wow! 14 articles to edit today. OK. I will do my best. But, I may need until midnight because I'm teaching today. I will let you know when I'm done reviewing. All the best, Msannakoval (talk) 11:13, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
P.S. Just noting that this time I will not add logos of education programs -- as had been done here in this earlier draft of the latest newsletter -- since they did not appear in the final published version here. Msannakoval (talk) 11:41, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for for the great help with editing, Anna. Getting done with this by tonight would do. And I thinking not having the logos will be fine. @MCruz (WMF):, you have any suggestions on the logo thing? --SPanigrahi (WMF) (talk) 14:51, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dear Subhashish and María, I mentioned the logos in this thread above. I'm afraid that with the large number of articles -- doubling from 7 to 14 overnight -- and the very tight deadline, there is not enough time for me to complete the copyediting and add the logos tonight. Maybe it's best to revisit this matter before the next issue instead? Msannakoval (talk) 04:31, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Dear Subhashish and María, I'm all done.   The copyediting is complete. The newsroom content is good to go and LGTM. Because Christian still has not replied to this message on her talk page and has not edited Outreach wiki since Februrary, I went ahead did all of the copyediting myself this time. Hope that helps. Wish you both all the best. Msannakoval (talk) 07:29, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you so much Anna for taking time out to work on this. We will now work with Raphael and Sailesh to get these delivered. I might trouble you again if there will be a need for that. Thanks again. :) --SPanigrahi (WMF) (talk) 06:26, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dear Subha, We will definitely help for the distribution of newsletter  , but the Highlights , Single page and Newsletter page is not updated.-Saileshpat (talk) 08:28, 29 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Sailesh, I have pinged Raphael over email with a quick instruction for making the changes. Hopefully he will be able to make the changes by tomorrow. --SPanigrahi (WMF) (talk) 02:05, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Anna, Thank you so much for taking the time to copyedit our beloved Education newsletter. Your contributions are a great part of this publication's success  . Hugs, María (WMF) (talk) 16:55, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Newest edition of Education Newsletter, September 1st edit

Hi Anna,
Pleasure to meet you! My name is Loreen Ruíz and I am an intern at WMF who is currently working with Maria and the Education Collaborative to start an education campaign. I wanted to let you know that we are currently preparing to release another issue of the Education Newsletter on September 1st, and that we would love to have your support in overseeing the content of the newest issue before it is published. I am also giving the other members of the Newsletter team a heads up. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I wish you a great week. Loreen.Ruiz (talk) 02:43, 10 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Loreen.Ruiz. Congratulations on your internship at WMF. You're very fortunate to be working with María. I know you'll learn a lot from her.   I'm happy to help oversee the content of the next issue of the newsletter. Please let me know if you need me to do more than just edit the content in the newsroom. I will begin editing this week. I wish I could have started sooner, but it's back to school time here in the U.S., as you know, and we teachers are typically very busy this time of year. Nevertheless, I still love WEP and am happy to help however I can. All the best, Msannakoval (talk) 16:49, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Anna! I am so sorry for the late reply, and I appreciate your timely response. I, too, feel fortunate to be working with María! Thank you for offering to help. If possible, we would love if you would review and copy-edit the stories by Wednesday. I hope you had a great start to the school year! Loreen.Ruiz (talk) 01:16, 30 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Loreen. The school year is indeed off to a good start. Thanks for asking. :)
I've been corresponding with Masssly about my progress in this thread. It has taken me longer to copyedit the content for this issue because there are many very long articles. But I will be done with my part by midnight today PDT.
I noticed that there are no "Articles of interest in other publications" listed. Does the WEP team at WMF have any links to include? Msannakoval (talk) 14:00, 30 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Anna, sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the reminder! I found two articles that could be included, and I will post them now to the Newsroom. Loreen.Ruiz (talk) 05:20, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Re:Two articles in the Education/Newsletter/Newsroom edit

Hello Anna, How are you? Nice to meet you again :) Yes I know that are a little bit close, but one of them for the whole program and celebration conference and the another one about the achievement of my group and the average of distinguished contributions that they already have added concering to WEP it self. For that, I think it will be good if we can let them separatly, because I'll use them for my work in university to showcase about activiting and supporting the program there.--لا روسا (talk) 08:14, 31 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Volunteering on the Education Program newsletter edit

Hi Anna, we are preparing to begin the process of publishing the Education Program Newsletter, now with a new format and monthly issues. I see that you have been involved as a content leader in the past. Are you still interested in participating in this capacity? Would love to speak with you more about what you've done in the past, and what you're interested in working on in the future!

All the best --NSaad (WMF)

Hi Anna, are you still interested in volunteering for the newsletter as a content leader? Thanks! --NSaad (WMF) (talk) 18:25, 21 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

De-sysopping edit

Per Wikimedia:Inactivity policy, your account is due for having advanced user rights removed. If you would like to retain these user rights, please post a message on this talk page and use {{Ping}} to alert me. Note that this message is being sent to several users who are in the same situation and many have never used administrator tools. In the past, community standards were more lax about who received adminship or bureaucratship and between this policy and a further solicitation of consensus, we are reigning in some of the requirements for advanced user rights. You will also be receiving an email from me if you have it enabled. Koavf (talk) 21:28, 13 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Koavf, for updating me. I completely understand. I am not active on wiki lately, so it makes sense to remove my advanced user rights, and it is fair to do so. It was nice to hear from you. I hope this finds you well. Sincerely, Msannakoval (talk) 23:31, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
You too Anna. Koavf (talk) 23:40, 16 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
